It's decent, but if you already have a 5.1 or 7.1 system, better off just buying additional ceiling speakers, rather than replacing everything.
Note that this doesn't include a receiver or subwoofer. Even though the mains are rated down to 38hz at -3dB, you really want a subwoofer for movie effects.

Someone above made a couple of receiver recommendations. I generally don't keep track of new models when I'm not in the market.
For subwoofer, what's your budget? If you're looking at entry level, Dayton subs have gotten raves from the users at Audiokarma. This one's currently on sale[parts-express.com] for $124.

Denon S760H or Onkyo TX-NR6050. Both great value receivers at Costco. I just upgraded to the Onkyo and love it so far. Above that you start spending a lot more.
I also use Onkyo for my 7.1 setup. Great receiver and easy to use.

Thanks for replying! I don't have a strict budget on the subwoofer, so maybe up to $400 or $500? I definitely prefer wireless.
Thanks for the recommendation! I see that Adorama has a pair for $429.00 (link[adorama.com]) and Costco.com currently has a promotion that ends today, with a $80 off discount that brings a single subwoofer to $199.99 (link[costco.com]).
Thank you,
Tofu Vic

I have a 16+ year old BIC Acoustech 5.1 system, this is tempting to get the upfiring atmos. Can't add speakers on top of my current towers because then it would block part of my screen.

ETA: it does seem sort of light weight for the size, though. But it's Costco, so returning it won't be a problem if you don't like it.
