Is this worth grabbing as my first Atmos setup?
It's decent, but if you already have a 5.1 or 7.1 system, better off just buying additional ceiling speakers, rather than replacing everything.

Note that this doesn't include a receiver or subwoofer. Even though the mains are rated down to 38hz at -3dB, you really want a subwoofer for movie effects.

Will this be a good upgrade from Bose Acoustimass 10 series V?

Definitely, but again, you'll need to purchase a subwoofer separately.

Any recommendations on a subwoofer and receiver?

Yes, but keep in mind you still will need a receiver and a sub.

Someone above made a couple of receiver recommendations. I generally don't keep track of new models when I'm not in the market.

For subwoofer, what's your budget? If you're looking at entry level, Dayton subs have gotten raves from the users at Audiokarma. This one's currently on sale [parts-express.com] for $124.

Denon S760H or Onkyo TX-NR6050. Both great value receivers at Costco. I just upgraded to the Onkyo and love it so far. Above that you start spending a lot more.
I also use Onkyo for my 7.1 setup. Great receiver and easy to use.

I've had the 10" version of this wireless sub for about 5 years now. Has worked flawlessly. https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-Wireless-Subwoofer-Brushed-R-12SWi/dp/B01N0HJEOX/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=... [amazon.com]

Thanks for replying! I don't have a strict budget on the subwoofer, so maybe up to $400 or $500? I definitely prefer wireless.

Thanks for the recommendation! I see that Adorama has a pair for $429.00 (link [adorama.com]) and Costco.com currently has a promotion that ends today, with a $80 off discount that brings a single subwoofer to $199.99 (link [costco.com]).

Thank you,
Tofu Vic

That's a great deal on that Klipsch sub. I'd grab it.

ETA: it does seem sort of light weight for the size, though. But it's Costco, so returning it won't be a problem if you don't like it.

Any thoughts on whether I should grab a pair for $399.98 total, or just get a better single subwoofer elsewhere?

Thanks again!

I have a 16+ year old BIC Acoustech 5.1 system, this is tempting to get the upfiring atmos. Can't add speakers on top of my current towers because then it would block part of my screen.

Make a jamo c912 subwoofer deal alert and grab a couple when they drop back to $150~ish.
