If you already have the iPad, get the pencil. I have many students who did that, not just for school, but for their artwork, and nothing but compliments. Julia Gisella is a YT personality who does hyper realistic art work using her iPad, so you know it's legit

I have an intuos p+t (from 2013) that can do similar tasks and has similar sensitivity, but not having your stylus hover over the screen inevitably means you interact differently with your work. Most will prefer seeing a screen under their hand. I ended up getting a Huion kamvas 13 (that I haaaaaaaaaate and don't recommend) to even the field. Still use my Intuos as a fallback.

An Intuos is very very good for non artistic tasks (remote learning/tutoring, signing documents, assistive input if you have occupational injuries, etc ). The size and age of Wacom alone means that you'll have good software/driver support too.

And yes it is usable for photo editing. Not the most modern way, but totally usable.
I purchased a similar Wacom model last week, which said Chromebook-compatible in its listing, but had mixed reviews on this matter. I'm a pretty technical user, but when I plugged it into my kid's Chromebook, it just wouldn't work. There isn't a driver available for Chromebook. It's just supposed to work with 4.4 (iirc) or higher. That's well below the current version of ChromeOS.

After rebooting, connecting, disconnecting, putting the Chromebook on beta channel and then back to stable... rinse and repeat several times over 20 minutes, nothing worked! I was ready to return the thing.

Just for kicks, before returning it, I thought I'd try it on a Win10 laptop sitting on my desk. It auto-installed a driver and worked great. I plugged it back into the Chromebook and unbelievably... it started working! No driver, rain dance, or other activity required! YMMV.

All I could think of was that it shipped in some state that, on first connection, might be seeking a firmware update or other first-run activity that doesn't reliably complete on Chromebook. Purchased a second unit and had the exact same experience.

TL/DR; connect to a Windows machine and let it fully install before using on a Chromebook (just the first time, when it's brand new). I couldn't find this tip anywhere on Wacom's site, but it worked twice for me. Hope it works for you.
Thanks. Just want it to be used. Ya know, unlike the box of Barbies in my basement.

if it doesnt have removable battery. what happens when its dead and cannot hold charge? esp if it is wireless. should one worry?
im thinking my phone's battery cant hold charge and it reboots every 30mins, rendering it useless. i want to avoid being in that situation
This is a great question, and the answer isn't good.

I have this tablet (medium, with wireless). It has an internal lithium battery pack (not for the pen to function but for the Bluetooth radio) that you CANNOT buy from Wacom as it is not considered a user-serviceable part. If you contact Wacom to get them to replace the battery via out-of-warranty repair, they will tell you you must send the tablet to them and quote you a price high enough to consider simply replacing the whole tablet.

Most people who have run into this problem simply ignore the dead battery and run the tablet directly attached via USB. It does work this way just fine after the battery will no longer hold a charge.

I have done the research and the battery pack part number is PR-234385G.
It appears to be sold by Acer, but I am not sure--it says "made by TCL Hyperpower Batteries Inc." as an OEM for Acer. Looking at photos of the Acer battery (various sellers have them for $23), they do look to be identical to the one inside the Wacom.

Would I recommend this tablet even though the battery is hard to replace? Yes, but Wacom really should have made it user-serviceable (use only screws, no crazy hidden snap-together plastic clips). I suppose it could be worse--they could have used lots of glue like Apple does.

So this Wacom is fine for photos and artwork, but like said already it's poor for a drawing area. You are looking at realistically drawing in a 3X5 inch area. If you are ok with that it's fine. Wacom works best!

I have this, use it for work with MS Teams. It's great! Takes a second to get used to but virtual white boarding is awesome.

Also it doesn't have weird software that your company will restrict utilization of...nor does it talk to servers in China (so there's that if you're concerned with the other generics).

Is there something like this for $20, I think that's my max budget for a digital writing pad.

I have this and I generally recommend it. I did A LOT of photo editing on a Microsoft Surface Pro and working directly on the screen is top notch. Having switched to a Mac (due to M1 performance for video), I needed a pen solution and this was it.

Currently, wherever my pen is hovering is where the pointer is in relation to the Wacom's drawing area. I much prefer that it didn't do that and I'm sure there's a configuration I missed, but it wasn't straightforward enough that I figured it out immediately. For the most part, I don't use this enough, but I'm sure if I spent more time working with it and adjusting my workflow, it would work out well. I've had a wired version in the past with my desktop and that worked well. At this price, if you have a need, go for it.

Have anyone tried to use it for the presentations and quick Ink drawing in the meetings? Compatible with Visio, PowerPoint etc.,?

For medium model on Amazon, there was $80 off coupon, so total was $42.98 for me. Thanks for this posting.

That's a crazy good deal!

Just ordered one of the medium (I already had a small tablet from years ago)

Bummer that it's only the pistachio color, but the price can't be beat! I think these normally sell at $199?
