I bought this mouse recently. I like the mouse overall, but initially I had a horrible experience. The cursor kept jumping all over the place. On both Mac and PC. I noticed so many negative reviews online and multiple people complaining on Reddit. Couldn't find a solution. And there is no way to do a firmware update on this mouse (on either Mac or PC), cause Logitech's firmware update tool does not recognize this mouse yet.

Then finally, someone on a SD thread posted a hint informing me that the Logitech Bolt receiver doesn't work well with USB 3 ports. So if you plug it to a USB 2 port, or use a USB 2 extension cable (if you only have USB 3 ports), the problem goes away. And sure enough, that worked. The receiver is connected tot the KVM switch on my monitor via an old extension cable and the problem went away. It's still not perfect though. A couple of times I've had to just turn the mouse off and On again, but that's been a rare occurrence.

Bottom line - good mouse but firmware sucks. Either use Bluetooth or connect the Bolt receiver to a USB 2 port, or use a USB 2 extension cable.

Yes. Of course. But lots of reasons why one might not want to use Bluetooth.

For one - if you have multiple Bluetooth devices, you may not want to share Bluetooth bandwidth. For people with permanent setups and extra usb ports on the back of the computer, it's better to just plug the dongle than permanently assign a portion of your Bluetooth bandwidth to the mouse.

Also, for those that use a KVM switch, using the dongle is better so you don't have to bother hitting the button on the bottom of the mouse to swap setups. I regularly switch between my Mac, my bootcamp windows partition on my Mac, my work laptop and the steam deck. That's one extra device than the 3 channels available on the mouse. Having the dongle plugged in makes it seamless, and don't have to worry about changing channels on the mouse or pairing/unpairing

If I buy a mac version, does it still work with windows machines or will there be compatibility problems?

Planning to pair with MX Keys bought today. Reading this uses bolt where as the keys uses unifying. Will switching between multiple devices require an extra step with bolt/unifying setup?
You can just think of it as each peripheral (keyboard and mouse) needing its own USB plug if you want your connection through that instead of Bluetooth. So 2 usb ports instead of just 1.

Does this mouse still have an issue with the M1 MacBooks? I heard there was a lag
I have two, one connected to an M1 Macbook Pro and the other to an M1 Mac Mini - both work great. Connected via Bolt which works much better than Bluetooth - Hint do not buy the "Mac" version of this mouse, same as the PC version but without the Bolt receiver

Is bolt the usb dongle? I was hoping to use Bluetooth since I'd have to have a bulky usb c converter

Yes it's the dongle. Bluetooth works but I've found with Logitech devices (have the MX Master Keyboard and 2 3S Mice) the receiver simply works better - I did notice a bit of lag occasionally with Bluetooth and I haven't seen that with the bolt receiver

WTF indeed - it's a bit insane

Logitech official comparison is here - https://www.logitech.com/en-us/co...ooth-mouse

Most of it is BS e.g. both mice support Win, Mac and Linux but the Mac version doesn't come with the dongle. Reason??? - Only the twisted minds at Logitech can explain that

That's unfortunate I have an older Logitech that works great just wanted to get rid of the dongle since they don't have a usb c flush dongle

This is an excellent mouse for both Mac and PC, work and gaming. Everyone I know uses magic mice on Mac but if you do any sort of work with wide documents the horizonal scroll wheel is a necessity. I'm not a Logitech fanboy but I'll honestly never get another mouse if I can help it. It's a heck of a deal at this price.

Get a gaming mouse for gaming. This is heavier and designed for productivity.

I love my master 2 and would get this if I didn't own it!
