serious question: do people really often sharpen chainsaw blades? I've just replace them in the past and they aren't terribly expensive.

Yes! It's not hard to use a file to sharpen the chain after every hour or so of use. It does really improve cutting time.

I use the dremel tool, finish a 20" bar within about 3-5 minutes.

I was in the market for a file set for 10" pole chainsaw, ended up bought a new chain for less than $10.

This is a nice basic kit, but once I got one of the 2-in-1 sharpeners, that's all I use, takes 10-minutes before I start cutting and it's good to go.

Yes. Typically every tank or two you put through the saw. Running with a dull saw is much slower and is a good way to blow out the engine on your saw. Even if your chain is only $20, sharpening it once more than pays for the files. That said, they make really good 2 in 1 sharpeners which are more beginner friendly and faster than this.

I just use my angle grinder to sharpen them

I sharpen mine by hand and it takes probably about 10 minutes each time and It's a relaxing time for me while taking a break from sawing. A good chain can be sharpened by hand quite a few times and it definitely saves money opposed to buying a new one every time it gets dull.

The flat file could be used to sharpen a mower blade. Not ideal, but it would work.

Same. I use a dremel to do it quick. Although the small sharpener cost about half of this set. This set you can do much more but it's manual labor.

Yes but you're better off getting a cheap grinder. Mower blades dulls easily and grinder will get it nicely sharp fast.
