You navigate into setting>home content and just turn off every toggle you dont want. News, new products, suggested actions, reorders, etc etc etc. The ONLY content that shows on my echo show 8 is the weather, and my gallery of photos.
Not a single ad, no suggested content, nothing.

I have since switched to an echo link for the stereo. It also has the ability to stream your own music from CDs or whatever you plug into it to the other Echo's in your home. I am creating stereo pairs of them in each room, so have 12 now.
Also, I hate the Show 5. It is too small to read anything on it except the time, and sound quality is only fair compared to the 8 or a full size Echo. My second gen 5 is slow and doesn't hear well either. It came bundled with a Ring floodlight. After using it a week, I returned the second one without ever opening it. I will trade this one in on a bigger screen echo in the future.

That being said. These are great 1 year subscriptions of kids+ for $17.50/year. Just shelve the echo, new in the box, until you need another year of kids+.
maybe just return the regular echo show 5 and keep the kids echo show 5.
