I take it you didnt even open the settings to turn off said content then? Just came here to complain?
You navigate into setting>home content and just turn off every toggle you dont want. News, new products, suggested actions, reorders, etc etc etc. The ONLY content that shows on my echo show 8 is the weather, and my gallery of photos.
Not a single ad, no suggested content, nothing.

This seems like a great deal at first. But then I thought about how they gimped the music service and I'm pretty much changing over to google devices with the much cheaper music plan. Not worth it even as a clock.

I have mixed of ggogle home and alexa, now this can overshadow google if I buy, is it worth to move from Google to alexa, I just have Google dots, no video ones, but I am curious how it will work with nest thermostat and chromecast which we use a lot

Enable Nest skill on your Alexa app on your phone. Link it to Alexa. Now you can control your nest thermostat. Idk about chromecast. I know if u have a roku, Alexa can control that via voice, even turn on off the TV the roku is connected to.

They also removed the 3.5mm audio jack from the 2nd gen shows for those of us that have "old school" HiFi systems. Not that these will be high quality audio no matter what, but casual and background listening need not be as far as I'm concerned and I don't want to have to buy a BT adapter to connect this to a stereo.

Can the "kids" version be turned into a "normal" version after the 12 months (or at any time?)

Not a big fan of these products, but I do use them as a bluetooth speaker to connect to my phone. Or an egg timer.... or to ask about the weather....

As an Amazon product, these CONSTANTLY insist I rebuy things.... our Echo Show just displays my previously purchased products (reorder?).... and "free" Amazon music is one or two songs, followed by ads and constant nagging to "want to purchase Amazon music subscription?"

My family nags me enough... don't need to buy a robot to do it too....
