Disagree. 4k makes text look way nicer on a 27" screen.
Apple 5k and retina screens are 200-220ppi.
1440p @ 27" = 108ppi = looks like every crappy low res monitor from the last 20 years.
4k @ 27" = 160 = 160ppi = not as good as full retina, but looks WAY better than 90-110 ppi range.

It's not worth trying to save $50 here or something to drop down to 1440p.

My wife works for a bank and is going to work home part time. She asked me if I would set up a 3 monitor system for her but I only really have any knowledge on gaming monitors. What's a good business monitor that's not going to break the bank but good for I'm guessing multiple web pages and spread sheets open.

Also.. Her work is providing the laptop so I have no control over the number of outputs. As long as I have 1 hdmi, 1 vga, and 1 USB-C.... I should be able to have 3 independent screens?

IMO These should be well above business needs...but... have her ask if they will provide a docking station and the monitors. Good luck!!!

4K is unnecessary, especially at 27''... if you're looking to not break the bank and want 27s, get 1440s with lower refresh rate.

ports are highly dependent on what they laptop capabilities are, i.e. USB-C won't always do video... it's hard to tell without any specifics.

Cant speak to what dock is available for whatever model it is...but mine has multiple digital and HDMI monitor outputs (3). I dont think you would be able to extend screens with one output....

4k may not needed for work, 1440p would be good option.
But I'd suggest to get at least one monitor with usb-c with daisy chain enabled, thus you can chain up the other two monitors using DP ports, and using the single usb-c to connect to your laptop. Simple setup and don't need multiple ports on your laptop side

What does she do for a bank that she needs 3 screens? I would probably try to match the setup she has at work inasmuch as possible. Also, there's no reason you can't use the laptop screen as one of the screens, that's what I do.

A dock or hub can split a USB C to multiple video output ports, so you will have that and the existing HDMI. Alternatively, there are USB A to HDMI as well but are low bandwidth and use system resources.

displayport 1.2 is capable of daisychaining for monitors that have displayport in and out ("MST"), and can handle up to 5 displays, depending on each display's resolution: https://multimonitorcomputer.com/...-guide.php -- and most (not all) usbc ports on laptops can at least do displayport via usbc. So that could be a possible solution for you: if the laptop has power + display output from USBC, you could get a single USBC hub/adapter that has power sharing _and_ displayport and then get monitors that support displayport MST. Or if the laptop only supports video out via USBC, then you'd have power plug and USBC plug.

VGA is hard to find on monitors these days. I'd go with a 43" inch 4k IPS TV and use as a monitor. As a matter of fact I just got a Hisense 43a6h during black friday for $230. Plenty of space.

Depends what your PC can output in the first place (source) and the dock you choose. But most of the time, it literally gets split, so still 4k, for example, but from 60hz to 30hz refresh rate (eww).

I personally run my main monitor direct to my work computer's hdmi so its 1440p 144hz and my 2 1080p 60hz side monitors are off the usb c to 2 hdmi hub.

If ur gonna go that big wouldn't you atleast want to get one that was 120hz native?

U6h would be ideal but only 60hz the u7h I think is the next step up that's 120hz
