If warranty expires, they don't offer an option to buy battery, nor pay for them to replace, Nor a repair...they offer u a crappy discount to buy another new device from them...
You can actually get the Topdon TC001 down to $175.95 + tax (free shipping) with coupon code TAKE10 on their website.

$12 extra for that much more resolution made it an easy choice for me. Thanks for the suggestion!
I owned 2 generations of this device and the batteries are terrible. At room temperature, you'll get 15-30 minutes max. Step outside into the cold and you'll be lucky to get a few minutes. You have to run a cord from a portable USB battery.

Total junk in my opinion. Will not buy another. The should have stole a little power from the phone IMO or coded for voltage loss better.

That being said, I absolutely love having a thermal camera for residential insulation. You can tighten the place up quickly, find missing insulation and add more where most necessary.

Cool. Let me know your thoughts. So far the only negatives I found are saving the pics within the app only and recording freezes every 10s. Everything else seemed too good to be true.

I got my TC001 today and it's fantastic for the price. App worked fine out of the box. Camera is neat. App is pretty featureless and saves images/video inside the app instead of natively into Google photos. I can see my dog's foot prints on the ground after she walks by. I can easily see where my walls are letting in cold. My only actual gripe is you can share images/video from within the app, but only one at a time. There is a multi select but only for deleting images.

Here are some shots.

I've only had it an hour so I can't speak to it's longevity, but it feels solidly built and well worth it to me.

That is awesome man, esp the video! The last pic with the treadmill, is it open wall or can it actually tell where the studs are?!?

That last pic is misleading. It's a cedar wall with a back layer and then protruding boards coming off the main wall. Like an accent wall. The AC unit there is exposed on the back side to the outdoor weather, hence it being so cold

it did show the HVAC going through the ceiling though when the furnace was running.

Initially, I had higher expectations from these devices to be able to see studs. But learned it may not be the case since it's only portraying surface temperatures. Thanks for sharing!

That means your walls are well insulated! Unlike mine.

Takes well over 7hrs to charge and forget cold weather, will go from 100% to 5% within minutes. Waste of money.

I could see ceiling studs during hot summer, not with this model.

Anyone know if the usb-c version would work with an iPad? I don't want to buy a lightning product only to have Apple ditch that port…

In the same boat. Looking for an iOS usb-c for iPad Pro. Not easy to find.
