In general yes, but these last longer than anything else my dogs will chew. (If I give them something entirely indestructible they lose interest quickly.) One unfortunate side effect is terrible farting.

I second this, anyone that says $4 is too much for a yak bone probably hasn't tried one yet. Easily outlasts all other bone/chews by 10x or more, so it's well worth it.

I second this. My GSD eats most "long-lasting" chews in about 10 minutes. These last at least five days. When they get tiny, you can microwave them, and they puff up like a cheese doodle.

Are these considered soft, medium, or hard? I got some of those shin bones recently, and that resulted in a $1k vet bill for two broken teeth.
Former production manager there. These cheese bars from Nepal can have only so much moisture level before potentially developing mold, which adds an immense amount of production workload (=package removal and cleansing for the entire batch/lot number).

So, to be on the safe side at home, put it in warm (citrus) water for a while before giving it to your pet. See how it breaks once your dog is at it. Repeat if it has visible edges. Make sure to cool it down first!

How long is long? An hour? An afternoon? Days? I've always heard good things about these Himalayan chews, but were always too expensive to try.
Depends on your dog and how long you let them at it. In my case they last at least two weeks when chewed about 30 minutes a day.

The only thing that comes close is a collagen stick, but those are so tough that my dog can lose interest.

If you have a Trader Joes nearby, they have 5oz packages of two for around $5. My dogs love them so I stock up often.

$4 for a chew treat is still too expensive
Agreed. I give my dog frozen chicken feet or beef as a treat. Single, human grade ingredient

Wish my dogs liked these. In my experience every yak cheese is so dry and hard that that the dogs just give me weird looks when I offer them. Also please supervise your dog when they're eating these as they can flake off sharp pieces or little shards. Sure, it's cheese and not bone or plastic, but they are still capable of piercing gums!

We had some success by soaking these in warm water for an hour before giving them to the dogs. I never saw soaking in the feeding instructions but knowing the cost of doggy dental work I wasn't willing to risk it.

Why would anybody waste this much money on a processed dog snack? This is $1.09/oz or $17.44/lb. For $7.20 I can get 3-4 lbs of meat from the butcher instead.

Because this will keep dogs entertained for hours/days. My dogs would scarf through any amount of meat within minutes.

Looks like you can make them at home for about 50 cents each. It's just cheese that has had all the moisture removed.

I didn't get up ending these, but you did send me down the rabbit hole of select Nylabones being buy 3 for the price of 2; ended up with more savings using S&S, with $4 digital credit for slower shipping. My pup thanks you! 😂
These are so much better than Nylabones. Essentially they are a very hard cheese being made from a milk protein. Also when you get small pieces broken off or when there is just a nub left, throw it in the microwave and it puffs up into a crunchy treat ( hot center, let it cool before giving it to your pet )

Really!? That's cool. I'll try it. Do you have to soak them in water or anything?
The directions to say to soak in hot water for 5 minutes, then microwave for 45 seconds. That's what we do and it works well.

We tried a sheep/water buffalo horn and our Aussie is obsessed. $10 at PetSmart and they range in sizes. Way cheaper than antlers and last super long so far.
Dollartree sells Buffalo horn off and on, if you're not particularly picky about where your treats originate. They're ~4" lengths of *thick* horn
