7 years is damn good for a shop vac. I am having to replace my Stinger sold at Home Depot so the timing is perfect. My stinger small shop vac is around 8-9 years.

When I look at the page on ACE, I can't seem to expand the product overview and specs to see the details.

Can this one be used as a blower too? In other words, does the hose fit on the exhaust port?

Also, how many amps does this draw? I find all the HP rating for wet/dry vacs a bunch of, uh, HS.


Edit: Nevermind. I see that it's 3amps. So it draws up to 360 Watts, so that's less than .5 HP.

This is a different model than the craftsman 2.5 gallon shown on Lowes Site. I hope it uses the same paper bagged filters as my old unit.

True, the HP ratings are misleading. (They always claim it's "peak HP" so that's why the stated HP numbers on shop vacs are higher.) The amp spec you note is probably the best semi-realistic number to compare across models and brands.

If you have Ryobi tool, buy a Ryobi 18V car vac. It is more portable.

I have this one and it's what I use mine for most of the time. You need the bag or it will spit dust out the exhaust. I also leave just a very small amount of water in the base when cleaning the grill. For some reason that helps the fine dust stay inside even with the bag.

Ordered for cleaning smoker and general garage stuff as well. Have a smaller one for inside the house but would rather dedicate one to outside stuff. This will be perfect. Actually great cheap gift for someone as well.
