But then one of these cards ($300 I think) was declined at Lowe's. When I contacted the gift card site they said the card was purchased with a fraudulent credit card so tough luck. The gift card site didn't cover it even though they purchased the card so I ended up eating $300.

Attempted using a CC through PayPal. Site just spun (no PayPal activity though).
Tried with a CC directly on the site. Instant "Fraud" warning text and email from bank. However, I have had these before when purchasing from new sites online. I figured this is why the PayPal order (used that same CC via PayPal) didn't go through. I 'approved' the vendor with my bank and tried one final time.
Order went through instantly and I had an email with the gift cards in 2 minutes. I immediately jumped over to Lowe's.com and placed the order. All 5 cards worked.
I was hesitant, but most online "trust" sites I researched seem to indicate egifter is legit.
YMMV with your bank locking/unlocking the vendor, of course, but I thought I would offer my experience in case anyone else was wondering. I was THIS close to just using the 4x Kroger Fuel points Lowe's card at full price ($20 gas savings) for SOMETHING off...but decided against it.
Oh, and I also learned that coupon from sites (I used quik-coupons) won't work on sale items (or at least the last 2 items I tried to purchase that were already on sale). There are some cash-back sites offering a little perk, but we're talking 1-3% here.
