I remember in the late 60s looking through the bin at an IGA in New Hampshire and buying the Stooges first albums for 50 cents a piece. Later in the mid 80s everyone was dissing vinyl and saying how great cds were. Personally I preferred cassettes and cds.
Back when you couldn't stream, part of the fun was picking up an album purely based on the price and album cover and see how it went. I've only recently starting buying vinyl, as I went through collecting on cassette and cds first. I ditched my cassettes about 10 years ago, but I'll still buy albums on cd. For vinyl I pick my shots and mostly buy $5 original records or new on sale. The best is when you can get someone dumping their collection for cheap and then it's like being in the record store and discovering music on the clearance rack again.
Music is nothing like that anymore.
Nothing unique has come out since the early 2000s, and even then it was derivative.
There will be nothing in history like we had from the 60s to the 90s. I'm glad I was able to experience a small part of that in the late 80s and 90s.

Yeah I just preview this album on YouTube. The songs don't have much character at all. I like her old stuff.

You ask, why would anyone buy a lossless format that isn't overly compressed into a digital format? I don't know, probably because modern technology has cheapened up the way the music industry has evolved.
