This is a good price. Last year Amazon was asking about $110 for this rack.

A couple of notes. While the rack handles the weight nicely, it's not a quick load rack. The straps that tie the bike down are secure but you have to thread them through the buckle each time. The rack doesn't do anything to keep the bikes from swaying into one another. I addressed this using a series of velcro straps and some sections of pipe insulation to act as pads between bikes. With those extra parts I can transport a bike without damage.

This is a cost effective rack for people who want to pack a family of bikes for vacation. It's not as great if you want to load your bike up every other day for a local ride. If that is your intent I would suggest looking for one of the roll on type racks.

Just throwing my two cents in - These are better than you may think (assuming low tier "Allen" racks at Walmart). I purchased one of these bike racks back in 2015 and I'm STILL using it daily. Here's a review I wrote on Amazon a while back for it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1ZW0O020PNM6Z/ref=cm_cr_getr_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B08V... [amazon.com]

That's the Premier version but my wife's car has cheaper version (with the straps you must thread through just like this deal, a 3-bike version) that's even *older* than the one above and they're both still going strong and we leave our car parked outside in the elements full time. I'm my opinion there's really no need to buy one of those uber expensive bike racks typically found in REI unless status means that much to you or you have very specific needs.

Will the swaying scratch your car?

Not that I've seen. The front wheel can turn which would allow the wheel to rub on the bumper. However, with the velcro strap I make sure the wheel stays straight (and can't revolve in the wind).

One of the things I like about this rack is that it's easy to keep the bikes and rack from touching any part of the car other than the receiver. The problem is just with the bikes since the factory setup has the bikes just supported by the top tubes which allows them to sway side to side (front to back with respect to the car). That swaying and the fact that the bikes are close together makes bike to bike or bike to rack contact an issue. That is why I use the pipe insulation as padding and cinch the bikes together with the velco straps. As a final measure of safety I run a cargo strap through all the bike frames, through the pivot at the top of the rack and down to the safety chain loop on the receiver. This helps tighten things up and, worst case, would keep the whole mess of bikes attached to the back of the car if any part of the rack failed. This isn't something I do based on learned experience, it just seems like a good idea.

Purchased this rack last spring. Loaded two adult bikes and two kids bikes. By the time we got to our destination, the main support arm had bent so bad that my bike tire was nearly touching the ground. Allen refused to replace it. You get what you pay for.

I like how they want to make sure that people do not think the car comes with it

These were $48.25 last month FYI. $80 doesn't seem like a slammin deal

Not the same model but I generally agree. This one uses a nice wedge lock (with backup pin) to hold it to the receiver. It's not the locking wedge but both wedge designs are nice since they prevent the rack from moving inside of the receiver. So, not the same rack but your point about this as a smoking deal is still true. This is just a good price for a rack that works well for some cases. IE, don't mind using padding and extra straps, not expecting to load/unload quickly, cost is an issue.
