Good price for a handy tool. Just know that this has no red light mode.

A bit heavy for backpacking. 2.9oz and then add 3aaa on top of that. There's better lamps out there. Good budget option though if weight doesn't matter to you.

Is this a good one for riding mountain bikes downhill on trails at night?

Any suggestions on some lightweight backpacking headlamps?

No, you'll want something much brighter that can attach to your helmet. I recommend two lights, a helmet and handlebar light. 500+ lumens.

No. Get a light that mounts to your bike with a big battery pack. Magic shine for instance.

There was a woot deal yesterday I jumped on for the Niterider Lumima Micro 850 for $45 iirc. The helmet mount is $15 on Amazon. Happy trails.

Is this good for doing the odd household chores and projects at night? Or overkill?

Good choice. Bright enough, not too bright for household use. Simple control, easy to use.

Yes, but overspending by 64% vs one headlamp from the Wal-Mart ozark trail 220 lumen 2 pack at $11.87.

200~ lumens will be more than bright enough

250 lumens if using the spot beam is ok for slow speeds...walking speed to light jog.

Distance of what's lit and visible determines upper speed, so if flying, get the ozark trail 600 lumens or better...

What is the CORE rechargeable battery? Proprietary ? Would probably go for it if it was included but since it's not
..

Edit: Core cost $30 pn Amazon.

Is there a way to remember the needed setting and do it with one click on and off or you have to click through several modes every time which can be very annoying? Thank you in advance!
