Thanks for the tip. If I buy these speakers I'll definitely consider doing this as the rest of my Klipsch setup are black as well. How much of this vinyl did you end up using to cover the speakers?
I looked up my old orders. I purchased the 10ft*48" roll and it had a bit left over so there is some buffer in case something gets messed up. Once done, even if there are slight blemishes in the work done, it wont be noticeable from even 2 feet away (I had to redo one section on a speaker and don't see it even when up close, unless i am specifically looking for it). Just ensure to measure twice (or thrice!) and cut once. I would also recommend getting something similar to these https://a.co/d/ilNSXH4 if you need both the blade and the squeegee, else just the squeegee https://a.co/d/60sY0rL to help with the application as long as you have a good blade handy.

One tip - The two large sides are very easy to do, but cut enough in width so that it covers midway to the back of the speaker, and enough in height so that it meets at the top section near the middle. I lay the speaker on the side, applied and squeegeed it fully, and then curved the vinyl onto the back of the speaker which resulted in a very smooth looking finish. Here is how the speaker looks currently - https://imgur.com/a/nkDJvTx near the top you can see how i messed up one side on the very first install - but it is not at all noticeable when standing next to it

A lot of negative comments about the finish. What's so bad about walnut? It really depends on your home decor. They sell the same basic colors for a reason. I'm going for more of a farmhouse look, and I've been waiting for a sale on these for months to match my other speakers. Thanks OP! Really appreciated!
I don't think many realize these have a real wood veneer and look better than the vinyl walnut of most Klipsch products.
That said for a lot of folks traditional wood finishes clash with their stuff, or in home theaters where black is often preferred.

Just depends.

For just as many this is the finish they want but don't post about it, so you see the complaints only.

If you are fully new to this, just a heads up - you will see many conflicting opinions on any speaker system because people have a different sound preferences. You will also come across many snobbish posts looking down on Klipsch saying something it is crap compared to X or Y brand. Many a times, what these folks conveniently forget is that, yes, overall, those brands could be much better than Klipsch, but they also cost a ton. It is like PC gamers with a $4k rig telling looking down on XBox players! My whole point being, audio systems follows the law of diminishing returns beyond a point. If you are fine with something that overall is pretty great value, nothing comes close to the Klipsch RP series when on a deal. However, if you are fine with putting away several thousands more, then definitely do a much of research and auditioning (at big box stores like Best Buy) before deciding on which ones to go with. Auditioning speakers is still good in any case as you may suddenly realize you prefer one specific brand over the others.

You can refer some guides like https://www.svsound.com/blogs/spe...-placement or https://www.audioholics.com/home-theater-setup (audioholics is pretty great overall for guidance - check out their youtube videos as well) to start with. One thing to note is - most of the modern day Home Theatre Receivers have their own proprietary room audio calibration software - YPAO for Yamaha, Audyssey/Audyssey XT32 for Denon/Marantz etc. Depending on where you place the speakers, and where you intend to sit, the calibration software will optimize the audio for your listening position. You can then fine tune it to your liking. So - don't worry too much about the room layout if it is not rectangular. The height of your room helps decide whether you need height speakers or atmos or such. The size of your room helps decide how many channels/speakers you need to have a good audio experience.

This is going to be a fun journey for you. Good luck!

This is very true. Even the cherry wood finish is excellent. I had to vinyl mine only because all the remaining speakers on mine were black. Walnut does look great in person as well.

I would rather get KEF or Polk
there are a few issues with these klipsch posts. first it is an SD advertisement posted by an SD editor. every single one gets promoted to front page status no matter now good or bad the pricing is. it is just how SD makes their money.

also once you mention klipsch it brings out every single fan boy from that brand and every other brand gets thumbs down no matter how much better it is. they like the brand because they are inexpensive, but they never take the time to see what is inside the unit. they tend to use low quality crossovers and minimal bracing / dampening which causes resonances. you get what you pay for.

of those brands mentioned both KEF and Focal are much more neutral, much more accurate. Polk can be hit or miss, they make a lot of different types of units.

brand names aside, using atmos enables (reflecting / bouncy) speakers can be difficult to get set up properly. you would prefer to have the atmos unit separate from the main speaker for that reason (So each can be adjustion / positioned individually). when they are attached you have to balance the toe-in form the main speaker with the atmos reflection and that always gives less than optimal results.

Thanks. Really useful information. Fortunately I'm in the manufacturing business so have the tools necessary for a job like this. I'll see when they come how the walnut finish is compared to other walnut finish furniture that we have here. I suspect the aesthetics committee may prefer the black wrap to match the other speakers and decor but we'll see. Sounds like it will be a fun project anyway and appreciate your tip and suggestions.

Technically, yes, it would work.
As far as how well, IMO not very.

Ideally these modules should reflect the sound off a smooth flat ceiling that is 8-12ft in height.

Aligning the reflection point to your seating, plays a significant role here, and can be difficult to do in the average home.

They are more than an alternate choice for people that can't/won't do in ceiling design or height design setup.
