Nice feature to have on a car, but sure is annoying when they malfunction and freak you out or randomly die and throw all sorts of alerts.
I love how my Nissan's TPMS goes bonkers after a cold front and it shows my tires with super low pressure, which I know is a lie....

It really likes having a fully charged 9v battery, once that low battery light comes on it will take a number of tries for it to see the sensor.
Hold the reader parallel to the ground, and I aim at the tire sidewall directly above the valve stem in each wheel. I'm maybe an inch or two away from the tire when pointing at it.
I've tried aiming directly at the valve stem and at different angles but I think the tpms sensor is a bit higher than that, at least on trucks.
Went through a lot of trial and error figuring out what works, so give that a try first before assuming the tool is junk 👍.
