This is a fantastic device. I've used many different streaming devices and this model does a great job with HDR, Dolby Vision, and has a great selection of apps. Also, the remote headphone jack and voice capabilities are awesome.
I have all models of Roku. This one is also snappier/quicker to respond. That's a big deal to me. I'd only buy the models with volume control on the remote as well. Big convenience.

MY roku remote control will control the volume on the TV or ARC connected device to the TV
Strange. I have two Ultras (2017 and 2021), and the volume buttons only work for the headphones.

Edit:
I figured it out. The settings are hidden under Settings > Remotes & Devices > Remotes > Voice Remote > Set up remote for TV control

Have you run into the well documented and most common "purple screen of death" HDCP error while using the Roku?

I started with Roku from their Roku2 version. Each upgraded model over time rendered the HDCP error at random. I switched out cables, using the best that monoprice offered, tried different hdmi ports but still no luck. The fix was to power down the roku and have it go through a reboot.

Last year, out of frustration, I purchased Apple TV 4K model. So, same tv, same cable, no more HDCP issue. Over time, i now have replaced all my Rokus with Apple TV streamers. I do miss the roku simplicity but have gotten used to Apple TV.

This is just a perspective, not a bash of roku. If you plan to get one, just be aware of this HDCP bug.

I would respectfully disagree. My Roku Ultra was purchased five years ago and still works with no issues.
I will have to agree with you. I still have a Roku 3 from 2013. It still gets updates, but it is starting to show lag with the parts of the menu and some apps. Once you get to a video tho, you do not see any issues tho.

Seems like a great deal. If you're a PLEX user that need heavy transcoding. I've had an ok experience with Roku and ATV, both crashes often and constantly buffers (I either direct Ethernet connect and are on WiFi 6, depending on what the device supports).
I received a hand-me-down of an NVidia shield TV. Ran it with default setting and it's been chugging without any problems.

Due to the recent BF steal, my wife upgraded me to the Pro model. Sadly, it's wrapped and under the tree. No experience with this baby yet.

I get it, shield is in a different price point. Save your hard earn money and give the shield a shot and let me know what you think.

maybe for your use case, but Apple falls behind in quite a few categories.

If you care about cutting the cord with out subscriptions, Roku has better free curated content. Roku with headphone support is pretty slick. Owning an apple TV will give you the best "show me all my apps" interface and a modern remote that you will easily lose and has low tactile feel. If you watch YouTube a lot, get a Chromecast to get a YouTube app with no ads. If you want a box that works best offline for vehicle(RV, mini van) use with your own curated content, get a chromecast... You can connect it to an SD card, run Kodi and have a library of movies on the go. apple and Roku imo are too much of a pain to customize.

For performance, Apple fan boys will say, but this version is 2 seconds faster to launch YouTube... Well guess what "since you don't have a YouTube, Netflix or Disney+ button on the physical remote... You need those extra seconds to actually get to the app and launch it instead of 1 button press on remote like others have".

Speed is relative.. are we talking about remote control launch speed process, app startup speed or voice launch speed process because they are different for all and I'd argue that the physical remote is king especially for elderly and developing children.

My reco per priority:
Chromecast: ad free YouTube, offline media box use, maximum universal remote functions, finding new curated content per your habits, Google assistant bias, gphotos ambiance mode
apple: slick interface flex, air pod connectivity, iphone screen sharing, icloud photo screensaver
roku: cable cutter wanting to minimize paid subscriptions, durable and tactile remote for young and elderly, simplest interface
fire stick: Alexa assistance bias
How is Chromecast ad free? They charge a few bucks a month for that.

For those who see a higher sticker, bring it to get scanned. Mine were marked $79 still on the shelf, but rung out at $30.

Got lucky, snagged one at local Wally that said they were out of stock online. Sign said $80, rang up $30. Nice that these remotes use AA batteries instead of AAA on the Stick 4K, even if I never use the remote audio streaming feature.

Not much of a gamble at $30 but I had issues with my Roku Ultra and Roku will not stand by their product unless it is purchased directly from Roku.com.

Definitively return Firestick.

If ONN is the Android TV then it's really up to personal preference. Roku is just a very simple and clean UI. Android TV is more fun for techies who want to play with stuff like sideloading and also has decent support for game streaming.
Disagree about the fire stick 4K or the Cube or the Max. I have been using FireStick for about 7 years (recent upgrade to Cube and Max). Allows sideloading if you use Kodi or other streaming apps on Android. No issues so far (4K version and up)

I know what you are talking about Roku not standing by their product from "3rd party" resellers. I had two issues one with the device and other is with a remote.

The Roku 4 had a few batches that had thermal issues. I know they replaced some later one, but they did not replace my Roku 4 because they did not think it was one of these batches that had thermal issues. So that is kinda why I still used my Roku 3 for a long time.

Then near the start of COVID-19, I bought an extra Roku remote from Walmart, and volume down and mute buttons broke on this remote after about three months. I tried to get it warrantied out, but they kept on telling me that the warranty is for items bought from Roku.com. They told me to go back to the retailer to get a replacement or order from Roku.com, but the retailer said it was past their return policy. The retailer said to contact Roku about it. So I kept on getting nowhere. Luckily the remote was only around $20.

That is kinda why when these come sale during Black Friday, I buy a Roku unless I do not think is worth the upgrade. I do not want to get hit by an expensive hit from their policy issue.

Picked one up today and have been running it for a few hours. It seems a tad faster then my sons 4k. I can confirm it has blutooth....I have not paired a set but there is an option to pair wireless headphones In the settings menu.

All in all I am pleased. Thanks to the OP.

Ih....It also is working my set (vizio) volume. Auto detected the set.
