I would interpret the words "/prepaid cards" to be only related to Mastercard and not prepaid phone cards, but with Target I always wonder.

FAQ on AT&T Prepaid since I see these questions in every one of these threads:
You don't have to pay tax and 911 fees as long as your monthly bill is paid via your balance with these cards. Cards under $100 extend your balance expiration date 90 days after you apply them. Cards $100 and above extend your balance expiration date to one year past the date that you apply them. No, the cards don't expire IF you don't apply them to your balance. Make sure you don't end up adding a bunch to your balance if your monthly bill won't eat up your balance before the expiration date. Just leave them in your inbox and wait until closer to your balance expiration date to apply them if need be.
