Directions to convert this to other formats if you don't have or want to read it using a Kindle:
1. Download Calibre (latest version)
2. Download and install appropriate Calibre Plugins to remove DRM
3. Download and install older version of Kindle for the desktop
4. Sign-in to Amazon within the installed Kindle for desktop
5. Download your Kindle book to your desktop
6. Open the downloaded book in Calibre (automatic DRM removal will occur)
7. Convert to whatever format you want (I choose PDF)
8. Profit

I got a hard copy of this book as a homeowner/diyer and paid full price for it. Definitely handy book to have around. I find myself referring to it whenever I start planning for a project.

If you have a hardware Kindle laying around, DeDRM for Calibre works too. Just download the book manually from Amazon.com to your desktop for using a specific Kindle on your account, get the serial number of the device, and then remove the DRM using the plugin (serial number typed in on the plugin setting).

People like you on SD who invest the energy to give detailed tips on so many topics have made my returning daily to SD's site an absolute joy!!! Not only are the deals of interest, but you & your fellow "educators" have made SD a free mini university to me. And, being half-Irish/half-Scot, there's nothing that lights up my life quite like "Free" (except Wifie, of course … should she happen upon this commentSmilie).

I did replace the batteries, but alas it still isn't charging. The charger is probably 10-15 years old, so I might replace it, or at least figure out how to test it, before looking into the wiring.

Word. Strongly agree every homeowner should have a reference like this - even when you don't do electrical yourself, having basic knowledge helps you recognize if or when something has been done wrong.

This is a ton of knowledge for $3.

I do a lot of electrical work and know national electrical code pretty well.

Looking for stuff on YouTube is pretty scary. A lot of what you find in a Google search is wrong or bad or just an advertisement rabbit hole or just a copy paste of the other three LOL.

If you do or might do any electrical work. Please get a book like this. It will save you an hour of sifting through garbage information.

Reading through the link it seems you need a valid Kindle sn, no? Thanks for the info. I don't own a Kindle so I think I'm SOL.
