HDs SBOTD. Milwaukee M12 Fuel Surge Hydraulic Impact with 2.5High out put battery all for 130. that's not bad but it is special buy of the day so lock that in before too late
Ignoring all the talk about hacks and stuff, just speaking about the M12 Surge impact driver - this thing is awesome. I have a massive Milwaukee collection and basically all of the M18 and M12 impact driver generations, and the M12 Surge is my favorite.
It's small and lightweight, very comfortable to use, and it is noticeably quieter and less fatiguing to use. The youtube video comparisons you are probably watching don't do it justice. That isn't to say it's silent, but it is a big difference compared to a traditional impact.
It doesn't lack in power, either - I built a 5 stall horse barn with the M12 Surge as my go-to impact driver. Unless you are driving major lag screws all day, this is going to be more than sufficiently fast and powerful - normal homeowner tasks where you are doing deck screws or similar, it's perfect.
Highly recommended and IMHO $129 with a battery is a good price, maybe I will get a second one...
Home depot needs to up their game. These recent "deals", including this one, leave a lot to be desired...

If it was hackable at this price, I would grab one for sure
yup, as somebody said already, it's there. [homedepot.com]
drops the surge driver to 97.37$, ~35% off.
battery is 51.63$ if anybody else was wondering.
obviously it would be nicer is it were 129$ or the driver, then hackable... but is what it is.

I don't think they will until they see a drop-off in sales. They're still performing strong, even after the surge (not a pun) in home DIY during lockdowns. Plus here in the midwest where Menards ended their 11% rebate thru end of year, HD no longer has to match with their online rebate offer.

I have this and am going to buy the surge. The surge is incredibly quiet for office settings the impact linked here is stronger but too loud to use for work when a building is occupied. $97 imo is a steal for how good the surge is in my use case
Tempting as M12 tools are so nice and the hackable deal makes it even more enticing, but I'll have to pass as I haven't no need for it at present. I already have the previous generation non-Surge driver that's really nice and way more than enough for my needs, as I work mostly on cars, not construction or wood, let alone indoors where the Surge makes the most sense. But anyone who can use and has been looking for a deal on one, jump on it, I doubt you'll see anything better, that didn't fall off a truck.
Same for the 2.5Ah battery, if you need or can use one. Its regular price is $79. Now THAT's tempting, at $51.63.
Has anyone been able to successfully hack either the tool or battery on that deal?
Oh, and the original deal appears to now be dead. But I think the hackable one's a better deal anyway.

Same here. It's my go to driver. I get a little sad if I have to pickup something else to use. It's far more "pleasant" to use. The YouTube videos and DB ratings don't quite do it justice.
