Not to mention that these (generally) work in noisy environments, which a phone won't. If you're alone and in a quiet place AND have a phone, then use the app. Otherwise why do people complain or make snide comments that others buy something?
Noisy environments and playing bass guitar is why I like the clip on tuners when I don't have access to my pedalboard that has a Korg tuner on it. Even in a quiet room while playing bass through an amp Guitartuna doesn't do a great job on E and detuning doesn't pickup the string at all.
This is a good deal for a Fender branded tuner… however, generic tuners for this price are pretty common and a generic tuner is arguably just as good as *any* name brand.
So, consider it a good deal for bragging rights…assuming you're the kind of person who brags about the brand of their guitar tuner
Or You just prefer tuner that says fender on it Instead of a offputting random name like volexo
What do I buy if I wanna step it up. I have one Of these or a similar model. It does OK. But then I have to fine tune it by ear after it says it's tuned It can't always get it perfect Enough. I will then get a super accurate one so the tuner is tuning my ear better, And so I can set my intonation as perfectly possible.
I totally in love with the sound of a super fine tuned guitar. I just can't get it there very often. Can't get there with what are these things.
Does anyone have any suggestions what brand/model I should make my Uber tuner?
2x as much, but I have the older monochrome version of these and really like them because they are such a low profile they are barely noticeable. I bought mine for 8.99 on an SD that was apparently way back in 2015!
I own two of these and for some reason niether won't read the B string on any of my Gibson/Epiphone guitars. The Fender Bullet tuners work great though (which I recommend BTW).

Go with a strobe tuner pedal if you want that level of accuracy.
I am a working musician and always used Snarks on stage. However, since the last sale on these, I have been using the Fender because it works much better. In my opinion, it's more accurate, faster, and much sturdier construction.

fritzo's suggestion to use a strobe tuner is good, but if you want something less fancy but still super-accurate, try the Korg pocket chromatic tuners. We have one for the daughter's violin, and it is waaaaay faster and more accurate than any of my guitar tuners, yet still not as accurate as the strobe tuner that her orchestra director has.

Also, if anyone wants to double down on these, sweetwater has 2 for $100. That's like buy reg $60 price, get another one for $40. I spend a lot of time playing an accoustic or my electric not plugged in so clip is the way to go as a daily driver for me.
Like I said before, it's more important that a tuner tunes your ear than anything else, and playing a well tuned guitar is compelling and nice.
