It is a great start into Zojirushi as a brand and is about mid-level gear with respect to their other rice cooker models. It is rock solid and plays a cool song when the rice is done. I'd expect one to run well for somewhere between 5-8 years.
We are a just a couple but eat a lot of rice (including non cooker dishes). It got used once or twice a week for its lifespan. We cook short and long grain rice, basmati, wild rice and sushi rice. I also used it for non-plain rice dishes like pork fried rice and rice pudding. It worked well in all styles I tossed at it.

It is non-stick and slips right out of the machine. It is super easy to clean and use but does scratch up easy so be aware of that
