Great price but most of the reviews state it isnt consistant speeds and has frequent drops.

I wonder if this is portable as long as you have an oulet for power?
I had this from its inception, originally it wasn't too bad-as time went on the signal got worse and buffered like nuts, 3 TV's a pc and phone. I finally gave up after 7 months and terrible to non-existent customer service. The price is definitely tempting, btw, their newer modem was worst than their first, I had a pc fan underneath to cool it down, no difference.
If true it's a no brainer. I have the service. You can expect 100mbs-300mbs. Down time nonexistent.

I've personally tested it for 3 months with their internet last summer. Tmo home internet will down prioritize during heavy traffic hours. My test shows I only get 2-3Mbps during congested times.
This is not quite right. T-Mobile home internet has low priority (compared to phones) during all hours.

Had this for 3 months last year. Where I live, speed was about 250 up/down. The only issue was without a WAN port, I was not able to connect to my router. I definitely will get this as a back up.
You don't need a wan port to use your own router.

You need to rethink what they mean by not available. Each cellphone tower can only handle so many devices. And likely in your area, there are too many Tmobile cellphone user and home internet user already and probably use up their maximum cellphone tower capability. Meaning their infrastructure can't handle additional tmobile devices/users anymore without big impact to existing customer.

It doesn't mean they removed your area from service. It just mean their infrastructure can't handle more users in your area. Even if you somehow get around the requirement and signup, the speed in your area won't be as good when your area is "full".
Thank you, this makes perfect sense.

I have this and Visible. My Visible phone service is horrible in my area, but the T-mobile 5G service is OK, not great. I get 150 mbs, which is by far the fast I can get in my area. I didn't think they would cover me since I am in the country. Next fastest unlimited Internet I could find was 20 from CenturyLink.

How much do you pay monthly, and how many lines do you have?

Isnt this just a mobile hotspot
Yes and no. It use the same cellphone tower as Tmobile postpaid cellphone plan but it has lower priority. So if the tower has congestion, Tmobile Home internet devices will get lower priority and the speed may drop by a lot. And by just reading the posts here, many people have speed (and ping) issue so really depend on the area you are in.

Also you are not supposed to move the device out of your home location.

...how would you connect a 5G to "service" with a physical line? It is all wireless just like your 5G phone. No one is talking about internal home network connections. Obviously you connect a router to a modem with a physical network cable. Nothing different with TMobile 5G modem/router.
Actually, lots of folks were talking about internal home networks (LANs). Did you miss all of those posts?

I currently have Tmobile home internet but no Tmobile voice lines. Wonder if I'm still not eligible for this if I were to bring 4 new voice lines to T-Mobile?

I don't care about most folks...I was replying to a single comment from a user here saying he wishes TMO 5G had a physical line into the house like Comcast or att.

That sounds worse than a mobile hotspot

Also, that person said they were wondering why a device was not supplied without Wifi, not 5g. So it seemed reasonable to gather that they were talking about the modem/router that T-Mobile supplies, which has wifi on it. So, whatever you want to say, but the post you originally replied to was talking about onboard wifi, not a line of service into the modem. That would defeat the entire purpose of this very thread.

Was available at my old address. Moved 8 miles away and it's not available at my new address. Lovely.

Have had tmobile internet for about 7 months. Got it on the last $25 month promo. I live in a suburb of cleveland ohio. I do have a 4g tower about a half mile away, but the closest 5g tower is probably 2-3 miles as the crow flies. The first month or 2 I was getting 200-300mb down and 30-50 up. Now I am getting 350-500 down and 50-70 up. Before tmobile we had spectrum for $85, we were paying for 400mb and getting about 250mb down. We would have to reboot the modem about once a month. In the time we have had tmobile I've had to restart the modem 3-4 times. We did have 1 day that download speeds dropped to 1-2mb, but still 50mb upload. The next day everything was back to normal. For the price I have been very happy with it.
