Great price but most of the reviews state it isnt consistant speeds and has frequent drops.

I wonder if this is portable as long as you have an oulet for power?
I had this from its inception, originally it wasn't too bad-as time went on the signal got worse and buffered like nuts, 3 TV's a pc and phone. I finally gave up after 7 months and terrible to non-existent customer service. The price is definitely tempting, btw, their newer modem was worst than their first, I had a pc fan underneath to cool it down, no difference.
If true it's a no brainer. I have the service. You can expect 100mbs-300mbs. Down time nonexistent.

I wanted to sign up for this 5G internet service and I am new to Tmobile. Looks like the only way to sign up is by calling them or chatting with them . I called them asked for signing up at $50/month since I am not a Tmobile customer . But they seem to ask so much information that I got tired and told them I don't need it . I gave them Social security, email, phone, address etc and that guy wants License number also . not sure why they need all that info for a simple $50/month service .

I had it last year when it first rolled out in Nashville. I had dl speeds in excess of 300mbps at random times of the day/night. The rest of the time it was 5 to 15. I work from home and need a more reliable hs connection. You cannot beat the all-in price and I would consider them again once their signal is stronger in my part of town.

In response to someone's comment about customer service, I've had nothing but positive experiences with T-Mobile's CS dept. They're always friendly and helpful.

I have had this since it started. I can typically hit a 400Mbit download without issue, and most times greater than 50Mbit up. It does slow down due to poor weather (well Duh, it is radio). I have had it stop working altogether about once every three months, and a quick reboot gets it back online. No other issues. I do have the router close to windows, and then I connect my Eero mesh to it. Overall, it's a great service, and I pair it with another provider to get greater reliability and backup internet in case either service goes down.

I've had this net for about a year now, across a few locations and the bottom line there is that it varies. Location will play a huge role in stability and consistency of connection. Since I didn't have a densely populated area, I was pretty far from the tower and my ping suffered. 125 down but also 120 - 200 ping for most games. Just like what others have said, it's location lottery. Either you win big or your area is unservicable and cancel.
And when you add tons of new users because of this deal, the chance of winning this "location speed/ping lottery" is getting slimmer. And this deal likely has big impact to existing home internet users also.

Pretty easy to understand when each cellphone tower can only handle so many devices (or home internet users) and up to certain speed share by all the Tmobile users in that area. Before this deal, each person may get xxx mbps download (and certain ping). After this deal, the cellphone tower capability for each person/device will decrease (in certain area may decrease dramatically) when add these many new users to each cellphone tower. That download(and ping) number is not going to stay the same after adding so many people.

Remember Tmobile doesn't guarantee the minimum speed you get.

I did end up adding a line and rep stated I can drop it later and keep the $25.00 credit. I hope that is true. I have a Simple Choice plan
You didn't need to add a line at all.

You should have read the terms. No where does it state that you need to add a line.

Here's an LPT
  • Get this Tmobile internet for 30+ days.
  • Quit your Spectrum.
  • After 30 days, sign up with Spectrum again, and now as new customer since it was 30+ days when you were a customer. New Spectrum customers get promotions like lower monthly and higher speed.
  • Quit your Tmobile internet after 6 weeks so you can get your $100 cash back.
That will work and most Spectrum promos are for 2 years now. It's better than messing with retentions. Or if you have other adults in the house, just cancel service and have them sign up under their name.

It's right on their Home Internet page:

"We won't raise your price for Internet."

https://www.t-mobile.com/home-internet
The page you link is specific to user and their plan, as you need to enter in your phone number. Mine does not show that at all because I have a ONE plan, which as shown from the link I posted, is not included in that price lock list, nor is Internet.

The following plans qualify for Price Lock on accounts in good standing opened after April 28, 2022.
Magenta MAX
Magenta
Essentials Plan
55+
Military
First Responder
Business Unlimited
Tablet with an unlimited plan

I just signed up for this via chat as a non T-Mobile customer

Prep: If you have any credit report freeze, get them all temporarily lifted (Experian, Equifax and TransUnion) so they can complete the sign up process.

The T-Mobile chat agent that assisted me was not aware of this promo. I had to provide them the CNet URL on the first page. I asked the agent what's the cheapest voice plan that qualifies for this promo. I will not be porting my existing mobile number.

All in all, I got "Unlimited Talk & Text Only" for $20/month and the "T-Mobile Home Internet" currently shows $55 on the bill summary ($0.00 due today) that the agent provided, but she assured me it will be $25/month on the final bill.

They're sending me the "ARC KVD21 GATEWAY BLK CPO [t-mobile.com]".

This is the same T-Mobile that had "free data for life" for tablets back in 2013, just to end it in 2017.

Anyone know the speed of internet for this plan ?
I get between 100 and 150 download consistently, but there is a lot of variance.I I have had over 200 on occasion, but that'sis an outlier.

It dies flake out periodically and is not as stable as my other wireless line of site ISP, but that's why I have both.

It's basically like a super hotspot lol not close to spectrum or any other dsl service
I think it greatly depends on where you are. I ran a speed test a minute ago and got 135 Mbps down and 40 Mbps up

Yes it's portable - the bigger issue would be the 5G signal available at the location you want to use it. For example, a cabin in the woods, probably not.

Now that the deal has gone live, and official terms are posted at T-Mobile website, things are clear. The deal is $55 for HSI, then you get $25 monthly credit for life as long as you keep HSI service, which brings it down to $30, then $5 off for autopay, for a total cost now of $25 a month..

Note that you do NOT get $25 internet for life, just a $25 credit for life. So if they raise the price from $55 to $100, you end up paying $70 a month for internet after discounts.
That changes things.
