Great price but most of the reviews state it isnt consistant speeds and has frequent drops.

I wonder if this is portable as long as you have an oulet for power?
I had this from its inception, originally it wasn't too bad-as time went on the signal got worse and buffered like nuts, 3 TV's a pc and phone. I finally gave up after 7 months and terrible to non-existent customer service. The price is definitely tempting, btw, their newer modem was worst than their first, I had a pc fan underneath to cool it down, no difference.
If true it's a no brainer. I have the service. You can expect 100mbs-300mbs. Down time nonexistent.

I currently have spectrum for $49.99 after the $30 introductory discount was going to expire this month so I was able to use T-mobile HSI to negotiate for the same rate, they also upgraded my speeds for two years from 300mbps to 500mbps. I hope that others can do the same, I'm going to return my HSI because it doesn't fit my needs (no port forwarding, double NAT, etc.) especially with security cameras and VPN server. The HSI speeds is not terrible (~300mbps down / 30mbps up was the highest I got), there's more jitter and can be unstable at times
Wow thats good know. So did you get 500mbps for two years at price of 49.99?

It says it not accessible in my area yet, but they sell it at the stores near me. Any way of still getting it and waiting for it to get better?

They were two separate promotions. The 500 mbps upgrade is good for two years, the $49.99 price is good for one year. Usually, I call every year to get them to apply a promo, annoying, but well worth the savings ($360 a year)

Got it. Yeah pretty annoying. When I call and threatened to cancel, they did not budge. But this was before tmhi was available. So when you mentioned abut tmhi did they immediately give you that or did you have to really stick it in?

Use a router with the tmobile gateway. do not connect any device to the tmobile gateway with wifi. use wire connection to the router. I notice that I get better speed with router. I just replaced my cox modem with tmobile gateway. saved about $45 per month with better internet speed. Thank to SD

Thanks. We have the nest router and 3 of the google wifi pucks/points.

No way to manually update the firmware, but I can factory reset them later. Shouldn't be difficult.
I try to avoid Apple, Google, and Amazon ecosystems if possible. Google can turn over video data to cops without a warrant. Google and Amazon are in the data collection business. A good Asus or TP-Link allows you to dial in many WiFi variables. You should have control of when you want to apply a firmware update.

Avoid mesh if you require the best possible WiFi speed and stability. A good router has much more processing power and better software. You need raw processing speed to handle +60 users.

I'm on a SC grandfathered plan.

I chatted with a rep through the mobile app. Denied for the promo.

Tried again in an hour and successfully signed up. This one knew about the promo whereas the first one asked me to send a screenshot of it.

2 days later, received a text on phone that a line was added. Checked account and saw a new phone number attached with no details.

Next day, I can click on the line and see the following:

T-Mobile Home Internet
Applied discounts and promotions:
$5 AutoPay Discount
$25 2022 HINT P22

I am set to receive the modem today.

I have been doing the test drive for a few days now. Generally the experience has been positive.
The performance of the 5G gateway is better than expected. On my phone (recent model, Samsung Flip 4), my 5G speed is only 16/3 in my area. But my 5G internet is able able to get 160/7 most of the time. There are definitely variations depending on time of day and placement of the gateway . The signal strenth indicated on the gateway is only "Good"(the middle bar).
The only problem I am facing is that the best placement of the 5G gatewayis no where near my home main router, and there is no way to get a ethernet cable between them. So I will need to use wireless bridging to the main router. I have not done so but I expect to take a performance hit.
Unless I miss something, the T-Mobile 5G gateway is so primitive in terms of router functionality, it is not adequate as a main router.

I had 1-2 bars on the modem before the antenna install but also had 80-120 MS latency and packet drops. Once the antenna was installed I now get 20-50 ms latency and zero packet drops. I now have 3-4 bars on the router depending on weather. My wife and I work from home and had occasional loss of internet which I attribute to being only on the 4g bands and now we have no drops which I think is because we are able to get the 5g signal along with the 4g. Prior to the antenna I could see in the app I was only hitting one signal and now I have primary and secondary signal. Primary is currently at -92DB on RSRP getting 3 bars and -70DB on secondary RSRP getting 4 bars. I only have one tower near me so if you have more options the antenna could pick up more.
Wow, very impressive!
Which antenna did you get exactly?
1. MIMO 4x4 or 2x2?
2. "Panel" (i.e. directional) or "Log Periodic"?

Tried it but going to return. The speeds are great (450/25) but the ping spikes are insane. I was really trying to see if it would work to save money but unfortunately the gateway is locked down and the double NAT gave me issues trying to join friends for a CoD game. I also saw a drop to 90mbps and it turns out the gateway changed from N41 to N71 which is a slower signal in my area, a reboot got it back on N41 but I really don't want to play this cat and mouse game rebooting the gateway.

Also found out today from a neighbor that AT&T lit up fiber in my division 2 weeks ago, going to go with their $55 300/300 plan, they should be installing it tomorrow.

I'm glad FWA providers like TMO and VZW exist, they have the legacy providers such as ATT, Comcast and Charter upping their game and staying competitive.

Did you get double or triple NAT then? Confused

Does the discount appear for you immediately? I don't see any promo pricing on my account.
