Great price but most of the reviews state it isnt consistant speeds and has frequent drops.

I wonder if this is portable as long as you have an oulet for power?

I had this from its inception, originally it wasn't too bad-as time went on the signal got worse and buffered like nuts, 3 TV's a pc and phone. I finally gave up after 7 months and terrible to non-existent customer service. The price is definitely tempting, btw, their newer modem was worst than their first, I had a pc fan underneath to cool it down, no difference.

If true it's a no brainer. I have the service. You can expect 100mbs-300mbs. Down time nonexistent.

super cheap. imagine paying 25$ per month in 2075 for this lifetime deal!
Lifetime is for the lifetime of them choosing to offer the service, not your lifetime. Once speeds go beyond 5G they could just end this 5G home internet service and start charging more for a 6G service.

Finally got Tforce to explain that I can't get this $25/mo plan as long as I also have an Insider discount applied to the account. It's one or the other according to the terms, even though some have been able to get them combined.

Edit: Same thing applies for the perks at work discount if you have that
Yeah, I have seen several post about the Insider codes supposedly not allowing this promo. But if that is true, why others with Insider discount have had the system automatically apply the discount to them. If that was true their accounts wouldn't have passed the requirements validation by the automatic system and the promo wouldn't have been automatically applied.

Not a T-mobile expert nor saying they are wrong but I think they are miss reading their internal terms and what it really means is thar the Insider discount won't stack with this promo, ie it will be $25 not $25 - Insider discount. But in the end, only the programmer that did the promo code knows for sure and we can only expeculate and wait.

That would really be a bummer, although I personally don't believe that the cap will actually happen. I read reports on Reddit about power users who leeched north of 50 TB (yes, terabytes) per month and they didn't even get a warning. Not to say that this won't ever be an issue but 100 GB seems very low nowadays. If the data usage feature in the app is any indication, I should have reached 100 GB in about 5 days…
Based on tmobile website, people that use more than 50GB or 100GB a month is called "Heavy Data Users".

https://www.t-mobile.com/responsi...et-service

Heavy Data Users (as defined by a customer's rate plan) will have their data usage prioritized below the data usage (including tethering) of other customers at times and at locations where there are competing customer demands for network resources, which may result in slower data speeds.

So this is "location lottery". If the cellphone tower near you is always crowded, sounds like once you become "Heavy Data Users", not only your Tmobile Home internet will have lower priority than postpaid cellphone customer, you will also have lower data priority than other non-Heavy Data Home Internet user. So your speed will drop further.

And if you are lucky and you win this "location lottery" (your cellphone tower is not crowded), since your cellphone tower has enough bandwidth for everyone, then everyone can still have higher speed.

Hmmm.. Where is the language? So some get insider hook and this? Keep trying...
T-mobile reps have an internal forum/communication board and they have guidelines and clarifications for the promo's in there plus an internal version of the terms of the promo and that is where they are getting that info from.

The public terms of the promo have an open ended statement saying that this promo MAY NOT be compatible or combined with some promos but they don't specify which, that internal terms have those extra details.

Those internal terms were posted here or on reddit.

Check in the website and not on app. Account —> click on the line and you should see $5 and $25 discounts listed.

Something that might make this a dealbreaker for anyone who works from home or is streaming a lot of 4K (or otherwise using a lot of bandwidth), I was told by a T-Mobile CSR there is a soft data cap of 100GB per month at full 5G speeds "Heavy Data User" even for this home internet offering. For example I am seeing approx. 600Mbps at the gateway device for 5G, but was told I'd be throttled down to 4G speeds if I exceeded that 100GB threshold in a billing cycle. When I asked what 4G speeds meant, the CSR told me 256kbps, which I figured could not be right, because that is way too slow to be useable. I asked for him to repeat, and asked if he meant 256Mbps, to which he said no, Kbps (lol)

I then asked if I could pay more to remove the cap, and he said there's no way to increase it. For comparison's sake, Xfinity high speed internet usage caps at 1.2TB before they charge you more (an extra $10 for additional 50GB additional, never exceeding $100 additional), but they don't *throttle* speed. An important distinction for those who work remotely or otherwise need reliable high-speed internet.

For reference I activated my T-Mobile 5G gateway 3 days ago and I'm already somehow over 30GB (could be PS5 CoD update downloads or something), and at this rate will prob exceed 100GB by end of week. Then if service degrades significantly to an unusable speed I plan to return the device to my local T-Mobile within the 15 day trial window. I'll update/reply here when I exceed it.

Source: https://www.xfinity.com/learn/int...rvice/data
"Customers who use more than 1.2 TB of data in a month for the first time will not be billed for exceeding the limit. After that, blocks of 50 GB will automatically be added to your account for an additional fee of $10 each plus tax. Charges will not exceed $100 each month, no matter how much data you use."

I wasn't able to find T-Mobile's Home Internet disclaimer about throttling anywhere other than with their generic internet disclaimers on the deal page:

"Network Management: Service may be slowed, suspended, terminated, or restricted for misuse, abnormal use, interference with our network or ability to provide quality service to other users. See T-Mobile.com/OpenInternet for details. See Terms and Conditions (including arbitration provision) at www.T-Mobile.com for additional information."

And once you click on the T-Mobile.com/OpenInternet link you get
"T-Mobile Home Internet (available in select locations) customers receive the same network prioritization as Heavy Data Users, but should be less likely to experience congestion because the equipment is stationary and available in limited areas."
I believe the CSR is incorrect. The home internet is already deprioritized. Magenta used to have 100GB threshold, but this is different.

I have insider hookup and get the discounted rate. It shows as $30 right now, because it won't show autopay yet if at all because I have over 8 lines. It'll be interesting to see if the hookup applies. I'm guessing it will not.

Just got my home gateway and did a few quick speedtests.
Results are impressive.

Area: OC, California
Speed test on my S22 Ultra with Spectrum 300Mbps cable: (over wifi6): 97.7Mbps down / 11.9 up
Tmobile 5G direct on S22U: 366Mbps down / 7.52 up
Tmobile 5G home internet gateway over wifi6 to S22U: 314Mbps down / 48up

I don't pay for my current cable connection now, but I will bring this to my mom's house to replace her fiber connection.

Also, I have a usbc cable that shows current draw and this unit draws 6-9 Watts idle. 13-16 Watts at ~350Mbps download and a bit less on uploads.
My last test gave me 372/57.6

I have my gateway connected to an Ecoflow power station, very handy to move the gateway around the house to test. Seeing about the same as far as power consumption, 8 watts idle, but max I've seen is only 11 watts while running a speedtest, though only 2 client connections.

What's crazy is that even in the middle of my basement (no window, just solid concrete walls all around), I'm still getting ~260 down and ~60 up. Testing it on double-NAT right now, with the gateway and secondary router in the basement, still about the same speed with no real hit in latency. Super impressed with the service. Just submitted for my $100 virtual card.
