Great price but most of the reviews state it isnt consistant speeds and has frequent drops.

I wonder if this is portable as long as you have an oulet for power?

I had this from its inception, originally it wasn't too bad-as time went on the signal got worse and buffered like nuts, 3 TV's a pc and phone. I finally gave up after 7 months and terrible to non-existent customer service. The price is definitely tempting, btw, their newer modem was worst than their first, I had a pc fan underneath to cool it down, no difference.

If true it's a no brainer. I have the service. You can expect 100mbs-300mbs. Down time nonexistent.

bummer I have to pay $10 extra for the 1st month, because it is a new account (single line + HSI) so auto pay is applied starting in the 2nd bill, missing the $5 credit x 2

is it worth the time to argue for that $10 or just let it go.

it means it reaches sign up capacity I think.
So, it will prevent me to apply for?

Each cellphone tower can only handle so many devices (or home internet users) and up to certain speed share by all the Tmobile users in that area. Before this deal, each person may get xxx mbps download (and certain ping). After this deal, the cellphone tower capability for each person/device will decrease (in certain area may decrease dramatically) when add these many new users to each cellphone tower. That download(and ping) number is not going to stay the same after adding so many people.

So how does Tmobile prevent too many users using the same tower and the speed no longer acceptable? They set certain sign up capacity per area/tower based on your home address. This is just an estimate since potentially cellphone plan users can still travel around plus each tower may have more heavy data user than others, etc.

Sorry If I its already been asked. I cancelled my tmhi last nov 1st while on 15 day trial. Now I want to take advantage of this promo. T-force says 30 days Im ok but the fine print says have to activate if cancelled within 90 days. Can anyone clarify this?

Also, my address is not available right now but I called the store and they said they can help me. If I have a good tmobile voice service at home then I'm good. Otherwise, retun it.

Just to add up, my brothers home address is eligible. This will be my backup plan if all fails. Will I able to use his address then use it on mine? 300 miles difference. Thanks.

I'm a current T-Mobile Home Internet customer. I called 611 and asked the rep if I can get the lower price, which he said I cannot. The rep said I can add a new Home Internet line of service to my account with the $25/month promo. So I added it for my mom's house, which he verified her address as a service area. She also has T-Mobile home internet at $50/month, which I'll cancel when the new service arrives. I wonder if I can add another new home internet line to my account and cancel my existing $50/month line.

If you read the terms and conditions of Tmobile home internal services, it stated...

"If you have cancelled Internet lines in past 90 days, you may need to reactivate them first. ..... credits will stop if you cancel any lines or change plans"

That would include cancel your existing full price internet line, then the credit will stop. If you read it more carefully, even if you have 4 voice lines and cancel just ONE voice line, then your credit may stop? The term said cancel "ANY" (voice/internet(?))) lines and not cancel all voice lines.

I am in T-Mobile essential plan with 6 lines autopay discount ($30). I did not get $5 autopay discount for this new home internet service ($55-$25=$30). I called today and was told that the maximum autopay discount for T-Mobile essential plan is $30. Anybody in the same situation?

Wow! Thanks and repped! I'll won't be cancelling my existing line then! Luckily my mom's existing home internet line (the one I'll cancel) is on her own separate account!

Folks getting >100Mbps speeds are lucky; I'm getting at best 30-60 Mbps down, 10-30 Mbps up.

I live in the suburbs of a large metro area, in the middle of three towers, but trees and small foothills block direct line-of-sight to all of them. Two of them are along a freeway, but the Arkadian device, same as my mobile phone, is locking onto the third tower about a mile away. From cellmapper.net, I can see that the cell I'm locked to is pointed towards my direction; not so many houses, but a large road with 3 churches, 2 schools, as well as the car traffic.

So this is not going to be able to replace my Comcast 800/25 Mbps cable Internet anytime soon. That said, will keep it as backup since essentially free for four month assuming the $100 prepaid card shows up - could be handy during winter storm season. And just today, Comcast was doing upgrades to the overhead lines all around the neighborhood, so Internet was down for about 6 hours; so the T-mobile Internet came in handy already today as a backup. After Comcast came back online though, the new overhead cables apparently were overdue, a Speedtest from my router showed 840 Mbps down, previously I guess the old lines were degraded that I'd never seen more than 700 Mbps....

4 bars, "Very Good" and topping out at right around 400mbps down/80 mbps up.

The WiFi radio on the T-Mobile router is crap, but I run ethernet between it and my Deco M9 mesh system, and can get pretty good speeds throughout the house.

Just something to consider from my experience with outages:
  • As others have pointed out, if your smartphones and home internet are both on T-Mobile, and there is a T-Mobile outage in your area, you are SOL -- putting all your eggs in one basket. This happened to me for a day and I had no way to work from home
  • If your smartphones are on T-Mobile, and home internet with someone else (i.e., Xfinity/Comcast), your situation may not be much better, depending on which outage occurs:
    • If T-Mobile has outage, you still have Xfinity/Comcast for internet access
    • If Xfinity/Comcast has a major outage in your area, you may have limited access to T-Mobile due to congestion. This happened to me for a day -- Xfinity went out first, then shortly after T-Mobile service became so congested to the point I was only getting about 10 seconds of internet access for every 5 minutes. I assume this was due to all the smartphones switching from wifi to cell when Xfinity went out in my area. This was on my smartphone. T-Mobile Home Internet is deprioritized behind phones so it practically had zero internet service.
Just something to consider if you were hoping to have internet service redundancy. It may not pan out the way you had hoped.
In reality, mobile infrastructure has much higher availablility than DSL or cable. You are less likely to have single point of failure. In the case of power outage, your DSL or cable service is likely to experience outage too. But as long as you put the home 5G gateway on a UPS, your internet is much less likely to be affected. If the concern is in the rare event that all T-mobile towers in your area go out, you can still use land line service or have a backup phone with a cheap plan from a different carrier.

The difference between 700 and 800mbps is vitually none for online experience. The biggest problem with Comcast service in my area is the extremely asymetrical upload speed. Did you get a better upload speed after the upgread?
