Great price but most of the reviews state it isnt consistant speeds and has frequent drops.

I wonder if this is portable as long as you have an oulet for power?

I had this from its inception, originally it wasn't too bad-as time went on the signal got worse and buffered like nuts, 3 TV's a pc and phone. I finally gave up after 7 months and terrible to non-existent customer service. The price is definitely tempting, btw, their newer modem was worst than their first, I had a pc fan underneath to cool it down, no difference.

If true it's a no brainer. I have the service. You can expect 100mbs-300mbs. Down time nonexistent.

I think its mentioned in the first few pages that this deal doesn't stack and isn't even available for current home internet customers like me.
You should add a new 2nd home internet line else create a new account like those mentioned for a watch line or the basic essentials to get the offer and lock in the price.

You can always port out existing cell numbers to other carriers and then transfer back to the new account.

If you have a lot of free lines like me then it is only option 1 to add second internet line for 90days to try with $100 promo.

There is current offer of three lines for price of two.

T-Mobile uses backup generators: https://www.t-mobile.com/news/com...ter-season

But maybe not on all cell towers yet. If you have access to see your local tower, you might be able to see if there is a generator at the base of the tower.

Also keep in mind even if T-Mobile has backup power, when there's mass power outage in your area and all major internet services go out, everyone and their grandma's smartphones switch from dead wifi to cellular. Your local T-Mobile (or any cellular carriers) would be so congested that it may appear as if there was no internet. You'll be lucky to get 1 text message sent out on your phone within 10 minutes. In fact, where I live with seasonal hurricanes, our emergency responders encourage everyone to send text instead of using voice or data on our phones during major power outages.

I don't believe most cellular carriers provision enough local bandwidth to accommodate all data traffic for everyone as if there were no other internet service providers in your area, unless your area truly has no other providers. So for folks getting this cheap plan as a backup to their current internet service provider in case of major outages, good luck!
They don't have them in south Louisiana. And they were down for 2-3 days when Verizon and AT&T were down for 1 day.

4 bars, "Very Good" and topping out at right around 400mbps down/80 mbps up.

The WiFi radio on the T-Mobile router is crap, but I run ethernet between it and my Deco M9 mesh system, and can get pretty good speeds throughout the house.
Did you change the Deco Operation Mode to Access Point (AP)?

This was my original post. And since then I have had it running for about a week now and I have had zero issues. Using my nest wifi, (couldn't figure out how to disable the gateway wifi). My nest wifi shows speeds 1/2 as the gateway, but I have more then 64 devices so I can't use the gateway. About to cancel fios and save $50 a month. :

I want to try this but I am a little concerned. We have Frontier fios now 500/500 at about $70 a month, no issues.

Have 5-6 nest cameras running 24/7

Stream 2 TVs at a time

Use YouTube tv and other streaming services

Use PS4/5 and Switch for online gaming such as Fortnite and Call of Duty

Spouse and I both work from home. I can have teams/webex calls that last 8 straight hours

Is T-Mobile internet even something that would work for us?

That's pretty heavy usage. When there's no one on the network it'll prob be fine. But if your neighbors decide to use their cell service you'll prob see the effects.

My in laws have had T-Mobile home internet for a few months at $50 if more than three people start streaming it buffers. They get 300mb down normally. I don't think it will work for all the things you listed. But I don't know, it's very location dependent.

I signed up using my family's zip code 90031, and using the gateway in San Gabriel Valley. I'm thinking about trialing the TMHI for another month and most likely returning it because I average 100-200mbps download vs 500mbps on Spectrum for $50/month.
so you were able to sign up in basically the heart of DTLA. Did you end up using the shipping address of your family or simply used their address to bypass the "Not available in your area" error but then input your correct address to obtain equipment? Was equipment sent to your family in 90031 or sent to your location in SGV?

I signed up in Hollywood and SGV.
Hmm... it says my address is invalid and I'm between 605 and 57 on i10. Did you use a real address to bypass the address check and then in put your real address or did the availability tool state your address qualified for service?

False. I have simple choice and asked about this offer via TMobile App -Contact us/Chat. They added it for $25 for life
Son of a...

Did you call it in or go to the store? I went to the store so the rep must not be knowledgeable.

NM, you mentioned you did it in the app. I will do the same. Are they going to send you the equipment?

You don't even need to ask the store reps whether you qualify for the deal or not. The billing system does it automatically.

I signed up in store (with Simple Choice), they added the line like normal, and bill credits showed up on the account. They don't need to add any sort of promo code or anything.

Use that Tmobile map to get an idea of the 5G areas, and then do a close up using cellmapper.net to find the towers.

The specific bands you want to look for are:
N71 is low (lower speed, higher penetration through objects)
N41 is mid (faster speed, less penetration)

The tmobile home internet app conmects to your 5G gateway and can tell you what band you're currently on
Tmobile map says I'm right in the middle of a 5G UC area. I have three bars and getting only 23 up and 2 down today. Is that because they've oversold? Speeds on my S22 ultra are about the same. Cellmapper says I have a 71 tower about 3/4 of a mile away and two others about a mile away in different directions

I have pretty good speeds, 200 down and 80up. However my video calls seems slightly blurry. Tried whatsapp, Google meets, fb messenger.

Anybody else experiencing this? Does it have to do with the latency? Speeds are good but pings are high.

Did you check are both your primary and secondary signals connected?
