Great price but most of the reviews state it isnt consistant speeds and has frequent drops.

I wonder if this is portable as long as you have an oulet for power?

I had this from its inception, originally it wasn't too bad-as time went on the signal got worse and buffered like nuts, 3 TV's a pc and phone. I finally gave up after 7 months and terrible to non-existent customer service. The price is definitely tempting, btw, their newer modem was worst than their first, I had a pc fan underneath to cool it down, no difference.

If true it's a no brainer. I have the service. You can expect 100mbs-300mbs. Down time nonexistent.

Seems like a scam. Remember those life time VPN services? If more and more users start to use their service, it becomes unusable. Eventually people will give up and forget it.
Worry about that if it happens, not now. It's not a scam. They could add bandwidth as they grow.

Plus if you decide to switch back, your old ISP will often have a good deal to entice you.

I live in Hollywood, CA and my signal kicks butt. I couldn't tell the difference between Spectrum and T-Mobile speeds. Try it for 15 days and see for yourself. Can't tell you how good it felt to say goodbye to Spectrum. They admitted they can't compete with 25 and offered me 45. I could feel the frustration in the reps voice knowing the end is near for Spectrum. Well closer than ever. So even if you aren't planning to switch give ''em a call and tell 'em you are planning to switch.
Same! Live in Hollywood and it's been flawless. Planning to cancel my Spectrum this week.

Yeah heard about a similar experience with a customer's brother in law. Said he'd been at his house for weeks to use his internet.
My third cousin twice removed said his aunt on his mom's side said it worked great at her place... YMMV

I live close to there and same. However, test it for a good week or two. I noticed vastly inconsistent speeds on some days reading from 200 to below 10!

Thanks. I've had it since the 8th and have had no issues. Going to cancel my Spectrum before the end of the month since they don't prorate charges.

Unless T-mobile is doing massive upgrades to their towers something tells me home internet customers might be experiencing much slower service in the upcoming months, regular phone customers shouldn't experience any of that as they have higher priority on their network, when it comes to priority on their network Home-internet customers are on the very bottom of the list with a QC 9

the list being as follows
QCI 6 is T-Mobile's postpaid and prepaid plans (as well as Google Fi)

QCI 7 T-Mobile's Essentials plan as well as all MVNOs (besides Google Fi) Mint, metro, ting etv

QCI 8 hotspot usage on a consumer plan

QCI 9 is for home internet service and all plans once their data bucket is exhausted

Just signed up the family for Magenta Max, but 5G Unlimited home internet is not available at my address. Frown

Oh well..
Same here, which is ironic since if you check their cell service map supposedly I'm in a top tier 5G coverage area, which I know I'm not.

First time this deal showed up I considered it as a backup as 2 of us work from home.

But not available here, we rarely use any of our 50GB of Hotspot included.

And lastly, even though the home internet device is much bigger than a phone, they didn't bother to put a more powerful antenna in it from what I can tell. Users have run speed tests on their phone and TMO ISP and get the same speed in conditions where a stronger antenna would give them better speeds but they stay the same as their phone.

I am not a current T-Mobile Customer. I spent a ton of time trying to get real answers about this T-Mobile promotional offer and it was like pulling teeth. You need to have T-Mobile wireless service to get this internet promotional discount. The cheapest plan I could find was the 55+ essentials. They advertise it for $27.50/ month but you need to have 2 lines of service to get this price. With only one T-Mobile line its $40 per month for phone service.

I called Spectrum and they offered $39.99/month (for a year) for 500 megs download speed, but this was the best I could get them to do ( for now).

I'll stick with Spectrum for the dedicated internet speed and Tello for the low cost phone plan for now.

Tempting offer , I dislike Spectrums pricing tactics but I don't want diminished service in the daytime. According to the rules, T-Mobile cant raise your internet fees but they can diminish your service speed to make you pay more later on. Hopefully there will be more competition as time goes on - So happy Spectrum is no longer the only game in town

For those that have this, what are you doing for parental controls, firewall, etc ? I have only had Asus routers before; I'm kind of getting worried that this router does not have any safeguards at all.

To the best of my knowledge it is not mobile. There are large, permanently installed antenae.
It is not that large and there is nothing to prevent you to moving it somewhere else.

I haven't received mine yet but you could probably use the TMO gateway as just a modem and continue using your current/Asus router for managing all IP/wireless settings.

Currently using T-Mobile gateway as a failover connection, ASUS RT-AC3100 and RT-AX82U
both support the function. I keep the wifi enable as way to quick test, but everything is managed by ASUS routers for DHCP/DNS/Failover.
