with ting, you buy a sim for $1 and it creates a number for you? right then or do i have to get sim in the mail, activate it and then get a number, which sounds like a pain. i hope its easy.
Yes, you need to get a physical SIM. You get that from Target, BB, or Amazon. I remember when I activated it, it asked for a credit card number.

Yes, that's pretty much it. Your IMEI must pass their IMEI check at the initial checkout.
So we need to check the IMEI of each phone beforehand before to make sure it will work otherwise we need to get or use phones that is compatible with their system...correct?

Joey ...yes....!...what are you doing here...????..lol.
please go to Best Buy and do the $20 plan and let me know....lol...cuz i'll change my Magenta back to the $20 plan. every day this is costing me money.....hahaha...
Ya I need to do that. What exactly do you want to know from my transaction? I am planning to add a new Magenta line to my $20/line and then port it out when I come home. I will carry the $20 line for a month in case some deal is available. I don't want to upgrade since that would leave another $100 on the table.

No, I had not. After I heard from people who had bad experiences, I stayed away from it. I use GV and Tello, both seem to work fine for me. I just need to spend a little extra.
Ting requires a credit card # to activate a $1 SIM.
Does porting to Ting require airtime to be added at time of port in or not? Or is it just the cost of the $1 SIM?

Do we need to put it into a phone to get a number or just activate online? Also if we want to port out 5 lines to Ting then do we 5 Sims and 5 different accounts or cam we use the same account since we will be using different sim and number to port in?

When I activated Ting SIM, I put SIM into the phone. I'm not sure you can do it online just to get the number.

Sorry to sound like a whiny complainer, but... <begin whiny complaint>

As previously stated, I signed up on Dec 2nd for the "$100 per cell phone ported in" for 6 existing lines (from Ting) and we got a free Samsung Galaxy A53 (# ported in from Tracfone). I visited a local XFinity store who couldn't help me other than giving me a phone # for XFinity mobile) and spent an hour on the phone with someone from the mobile department, but they best he could do for me was to cancel one of my lines and try to add it back in. It did not work. He said that the IMEI would clear out of the system within 72 hours so he is going to call me back on Sunday.

He said that there is a limit of ten (10) lines per account, and even if one is cancelled, it still takes up a "slot", so the best he can do is cancel three (3) of my lines and add them back in.

I guess getting $200 for 3 lines and $100 for the rest is better than just $100 for each.

P.S. I asked him if I could cancel the whole thing and sign up under my wife's name. He wasn't sure if that would work or not, but it would involve coordinating with the Internet/TV/home phone people (who are hard to contact).

Ohh, just wanted to know if tye$20 plan qualifies. But if you're not going to upgrade it thru that line that's fine. Lol. thanks.
