Ting requires a credit card # to activate a $1 SIM.
As previously stated, I signed up on Dec 2nd for the "$100 per cell phone ported in" for 6 existing lines (from Ting) and we got a free Samsung Galaxy A53 (# ported in from Tracfone). I visited a local XFinity store who couldn't help me other than giving me a phone # for XFinity mobile) and spent an hour on the phone with someone from the mobile department, but they best he could do for me was to cancel one of my lines and try to add it back in. It did not work. He said that the IMEI would clear out of the system within 72 hours so he is going to call me back on Sunday.
He said that there is a limit of ten (10) lines per account, and even if one is cancelled, it still takes up a "slot", so the best he can do is cancel three (3) of my lines and add them back in.
I guess getting $200 for 3 lines and $100 for the rest is better than just $100 for each.
P.S. I asked him if I could cancel the whole thing and sign up under my wife's name. He wasn't sure if that would work or not, but it would involve coordinating with the Internet/TV/home phone people (who are hard to contact).
