Do we need to put it into a phone to get a number or just activate online? Also if we want to port out 5 lines to Ting then do we 5 Sims and 5 different accounts or cam we use the same account since we will be using different sim and number to port in?
When I activated it, I put SIM into my phone. One SIM one account. You may also be prompted to put in your credit card number. That's why I didn't go that route.

What do you mean you didn't go that route? So then we make a new Ting account for each line we want to port in and just use different email for each account and other info can be the same? What is other option for port out that is easy and cheap? How about H20 or Tello? Do those require additional airtime to be added before the port is complete?

I didn't go with Ting because it requires a credit card number. I use GV and a few Tello numbers to link to GV#. The cheapest Tello plan is $5 + taxes and fees, it goes up to $7.xx or $8.xx. With Tello, you can do it with eSIM if your phone supports it.

Tried a few of my older phone's IMEI on their site and they don't work. So now the question is how do we get hold of legit IMEI that will work? Does it involve buying cheap phones (but that would add to the cost) or can we activate without the phone or IMEI? Any workaround for this?

How many questions are you going to ask. Sounds like you want to be spoon-fed. Try doing some searches/reading on the internet.

Anyone knows, what will be account number for straight talk to port out?
Text FOUR to 611611 to get the last 4 digits of the account number which will correlate to either the IMEI of your phone on straight talk or the last 15 digits of the SIM card number. That is the account number. Then text NTP to the same number to get your port out PIN.

I am having issues with coming up with enough IMEIs. Not sure if we could trust those generators what if they are used already.
Check on ebay. Many listings don't mask IMEI 😋

Hey folks, in case it wasn't stated before, in order to qualify for the gc, make sure you do NOT upgrade or change the device you bring in to xfinity, until you confirm you have satisfied the 90 days of service. Changing or upgrading your device before that, will disqualify you from the gc.

Also, keep in mind, that the base xfinity unlimited plan is deprioritized data, so if you live in an area without good 5g uw (c-band) coverage, or saturated with verizon users, you may find your data to be slowed down a lot or unusable at times. You can get the more expensive unlimited plans that include priority data, but these are not really a good value. If you want unlimited priority data, You're better off going with visible+ or us mobile.

Honestly, the shared by the gig plans are the only really decent values, especially, for relatively low data users who like decent phone promotions.

My experience has been different - you should not upgrade the line (i.e buy a device from xfinity) - but you can certainly change the device (IMEI) and that hasn't affected the GC. This is BYOD - so they want to keep it that way for the 90 days

If you have 5 or more lines, an unlimited line costs $20 - which is pretty decent. So, one of the lines works for me as my primary line, while the rest of the lines help me pay for it Smilie

How do you get the unlimited line for $20? It says the lowest the unlimited can go is $30 per line when you have 2 or MORE lines.

Also isn't Xfinity limited to 20GB for Unlimited line? That's only $0.6GB/day which is not much.

Because that's how it's supposed to work and that's how it does work for practically everyone except the ONE person on here who say it works differently for them.
No offense.

My experience is that it was possible to link many GVs to one real number in the past, but is restricted now. If you successfully link an already linked number to a new GV number, the old link is removed. This should not matter for those who wish to port GV numbers out - you only need a real number to "claim" a GV number at the time of setup

HonestSink and Fei are correct:
Lowest for unlimited is $30/line for lines 1-4, and then $20/line for lines 5 and up.

Either way, seriously bad value for unlimited. If you're considering unlimited, just go with visible. Truly unlimited, no caps, cheaper price is the single line price and taxes/fees included, whereas you'll pay an additional $5-7/line on xfinity for fees. Plus, you don't need to be xfinity customer AND you can do it as single line user.

In terms of getting $200 just for porting in your line for 3 months, this xfinity byod offer can be a moneymaker. But if you want a long-term plan option, it's probably not worth it unless you can get by sharing the 3gb by the gig plan with 2 people, or the 10gb by the gig plan with 3-4 people.
