This exactly. MacBook Air 2012 and older requires SATA and unable to use NVMe. This with adapter (for macbook air) = more space for older devices on the cheap. I bought one for $25 last week, so it's even better now at the current price. This is mainly for lowest price, not highest performance per price or anything like that (big duh). In fact, the NVMe people shouldn't even be looking at this while complaining about it.

This is the budget of budget level SSDs. What are you expecting? This is basically sata 2.5" SSD performance in smaller form factor.
