1. They are "worth" $10.
2. They sound better than your phone speaker
3. They are small. Easily pocketable or thrown in your backpack
4. There are better sounding $10 BT speakers
5. I use this more than I thought I would, mostly for podcasts and because it's so portable
Do not go in expecting good sound. It's almost just a louder version of the same kind of sound coming from your phone. But for many people, that might be fine for alot of situtations!

Won't be able to daisy chain it because the speaker has only one Bluetooth channel. If the device playing the music has the capability to broadcast to more than one device/speaker at a time then you can get a stereo effect.

Lots of junk in the sub $20 category.
Tribit and Soundcore have a good range of speakers for most budgets.

Where is number 4?
The 17 was 40% off (the list price), may be worth extra to get the newer version

Insignia (Best Buy) often has their small version for real cheap, and they sound pretty decent for the price. Soundcore and Tribit were mentioned, and I agree if you can find a deal on one.
If I need a generic answer for everyone - any $10 speaker that is BIGGER than this one is probably going to sound better. This one's downfall, in terms of sound, is how small it is. It's sounds "fine" for the size, but it's quite tinny - not much better than your phone, just louder. Anything in the $10 range that is larger, even the cheap no-name brands on Amazon, will probably produce something that is nicer to listen to in terms of sound quality.
