I still have not opened the box of Thinkpad C13 Yoga yet…. on the fence
one more thing about it is the speakers are bad. Low output. Tinny and absolutely no bass.

Just curious since I never used any Chromebook before,
how is this Chromebook compared to say Dell Latitude 7280?
During BF days I bought 2 Dell Latitude 7280 (refurbished by Dell, but look almost new, must be renewed), each for around $100 before tax (after cashback from TCB)!
So, performance-wise, are these Chromebooks better than mid-low range windows laptops like Dell Latitude 7280?
The laptop specs are as you can see in the attached images.
If this Chromebooks is really better than the Dell Lat 7280 I have recently bought, I can probably buy one of these as well, just not sure if it's really worth it !
Yeah I was considering replacing my dad's i7 7470 as the fan is getting a little tired, but the AUE in 2026 is pretty short. I don't think performance of this Chromebook would be as good but it is good enough for grandpa use

Buy this and hack it to put windows 11 on it. You got yourself a very useful full laptop for fraction of the price.

i actually dont' like the aluminum. it gets cold. This is tempting but I think a better deal
will be had with a dell with similiar specs to 7280 (what's the 13" model of that?, because i want 13")

I have the touchscreen asus (and $100 lenovo no backlit) and it's fantastic, it's nice to do a lot of zooming and scrolling with it sometimes as well as directly click instead of finding your mouse and navigating..

I guess i'll pass on this.. it's a very good deal.. but the one i have is holding me over well.

people crying about the support are brainwashed.

you can likely install a new version of chromeOS yourself. My x131e lenovo expired but i can throw on a new chromeOS that runs android apps.

I bought the 2in1 recently for $154 at bestbuy. Wonder if i should return it and get this as its the same specs but no touchscreen
how'd you get it for $154? I had the same dilemma but i think I can snag a deal on a windows dell laptop at a better price and specs, possibly off lease refurb or used..

I actually think most people think Chromebooks stop working after updates stop which isn't true. They are still fairly secure and continue to function just fine. I guess if someone was really worried about it they could just create a new Gmail account or just use guest mode. I still use a bunch of Chromebooks that no longer receive updates including a 2013 model.

would it be possible to turn this chromebook into a full Linux laptop?
So I have been digging into this question. The answer appears to be a big maybe. It seems that in theory it can be done but some people report success and others do not. The other issues is that appears that many 2019+ Chromebooks are not well supported in mainline Linux distro so it might not be fully functional. For example, I looked into Mint and it is not recommend using a Chromebook because of hardware comparability issues.

So I don't know anymore. I haven't picked mine up at the store yet and I may not. I don't know if it is worth the hassle.

Just my 1 day review;

The screen is really bad for my taste, I hated looking at it when i was browsing the web and for media consumtions, I am returing it. The price and performance is GREAT - so if you can use it with a monitor.. i would keep it

I read online that the screen on this laptop is only 250 nits. I had a 250 nit laptop that was so dark it needed to be at 100% brightness to see anything

Is this laptop like that for you?!

On Asus website it says the touchscreen and non touchscreen version of this laptop are both 250 nits. I wonder if it looks more "washed out" because the non-touchscreen ver is matte?

Screen looks clean and bright to my old eyes but I have quite a few 11 1/2" 720 IPS Chromebooks. It's definitely the best screen I've ever seen on a $120.00 Chromebook by far.

Depends on what he uses it for. As far as maintenance, the CB is a godsend. No regrets when I bought the Toshiba 2 2015 for my dad.

Where is the 170 nits info coming from?

I set my C433 at about 60% brightness but that's me. My old Toshiba CB (~370 nits) was set around the same level. Maybe go into Best Buy and see if there is a floor model to see for yourself. That's what I did when I bought my HP CB a few years ago. I was worried that the step down from 370 to 240? would be too drastic, it wasn't. Set it at around 67%.
