So it appear that you need to have 5G phone service with Verizon to get this deal.

Better to stay at Tmobile with cheaper unlimited plan TMobile offers.

I talked to a sales rep. and said I dont need the 5G svc. and she said she can offer me the same plan but without 5G it would be $30 a month with free install & setup. Call them or try over chat.

you can get this same deal without the 5G phone svc. for $30 a month. I just signed up my parents for it.

Meanwhile my apartment forces me to use their internet provider aka Spectrum community ~300mbps for $90/month. SMH, wish Govt could do something about this...

No luck with chat. I don't think the $29.99 offer is available in Boston.
I'm just outside of Boston, once it got escalated to a supervisor they applied the discount to my existing plan.

When you go to www.verizon.com/specials does it show up? If so should be pretty easy to convince chat that they need to honor that (if it doesn't work for you online).

FIOS just upped the cost for 100/100 to $45 for me (from $40). Called a few weeks ago to get something better and they said no--even when I explained I had multiple providers in my area offering better deals (true).

Well, now I'll go with $25 T-Mobile and they go suck sand.
Are you using coax from the ONT to the router? If so that is why you aren't eligible. If you upgrade that to ethernet, then you'll be eligible for the higher speeds and deals.

I would consider 5G internet a last resort.

I am (ONT->Coax->Router). It's an older ONT box that would have to be upgraded to provide higher speeds. I once had an order in for the upgrade, but this was during Covid, and FIOS never actually showed up to do the upgrade and eventually I just cancelled (after many months).

But I'll go with the T-Mobile 5G. I get 400mbps on my phone upstairs, so if T-Mobile can provide even 1/4 of that, I'll be getting the same speed as FIOS currently.

Once I use the T-Mobile for a few months, if I don't like it, I can come back to FIOS as a new customer.

You'll see that coax connection is limited to around 80 megs out of the 100 you're paying for, so even with 100M would be good to convert. Give T-Mobile a shot, maybe for what you're using it for it will be fine, but most are not happy with it and ditch it.

I've got FIOS 300/300 for $30 a month and Mint Mobile (T-Mobile) for $15 per month (actually free for 2 years now due to referral bonuses), couldn't be happier.

So jealous with you. Could you PM me the chat? What magic trick you used on them that worked? I did 6 chats and all told me the same damn thing.
well I don't have the chat but I pretty much told them that Xfinity is offering lower price and your(Fios') promotion is the same price (gave the rep Fios' promo page link).
The rep tried to offer Fios Gigabit, but I said I wanted to stay on 300mbps plan.
He then went looking for something for a while and then came back and offered the lower price.

What modems are you all using if you're not renting it from Verizon?
don't need modem since ONT was already installed in the apartment with an ethernet out.

I bought NETGEAR 4-Stream WiFi 6 Dual-Band Gigabit Router (WAX202) off of Amazon and this hold pretty well with all the mobile and IOT devices around the apartment.

Yes myself and at least one other in this thread. I didn't have any luck until I mentioned switching to Xfinity 400 meg for $29.99 and they transferred me to a supervisor.

FIOS unavailable for me. I only see 5G Home or Home Plus. Let's see if Xfinity and AT&T up their game to compete.
I currently have an internet only 500mb download speed with Xfinity for about $60 a month through Xfinity.

I had to check their deals page to find this promo about a year or so ago.

I think my agreement might actually be up soon so might be time to shop around again

After multiple tries, I'll just give up. $25 or even $30 is not possible for me...they kept saying the same thing over and over... I have to have the phone plan for the home internet to be a deal. I asked for supervisor they said supervisor wouldn't be able to do anything... And wouldn't transfer me over...

Pretty much the same experience for me
