Bought this 2yrs ago from Amazon.

Arrived in a damaged box with the side panel scuffed and pushed in slightly (3mm at best). Had oil in the bottom of the box from being on its side.

Contacted Amazon expecting either a minor damage partial refund or replacement. 15 minutes in chat, and they refunded in full... no pictures and told me to keep it.

Oil came from the oil cap not being tight after they did the initial run at the factory.

I've yet to even crank this 2yrs later after buying/receiving it for free.

Note: that an hour after refund, the price on Amazon jumped a 100.00 and then a couple days later dropped again. I assume the metrics kicked in, and they needed to recover the "loss" on my freebie.

I bought this on Amazon last spring for $830, not sure if it will ever get that low again. It arrived undamaged and it ran perfect. I only used it once though.

THD = total harmonic distortion, which is the degree to which a current or voltage waveform is distorted from an ideal sine wave.

Anyone with experience with this specific generator? If so, is it good for whole house and is the 23 THD noted in first comment anything to worry about if I'd be charging phones and laptop or providing power to essential home equipment like a fridge or furnace when the power goes out?

I'd like to know if it would affect a dialysis machine for a friend...

Yes! This would be a terrible choice for medical equipment. "Clean" power is generally considered to be 6% or less THD. 23% is insanely poor power quality. Compare this to most inverter generators, including Westinghouse, being under 3% THD. They're of course more money but you get power that's nearly the same as utility power.

The power quality is awful with this generator, I wouldn't use it for anything. Electronics of any kind are out of the question with 23% THD. Theoretically it could run stuff like power tools or fridge/freezer but the THD will cause the motors/compressors to run hotter. There are many open frame generators similar to this with much better THD, such as Generac, Champion, Firman to name a couple. Westinghouse inverters are excellent, and they make some other good generators, this isn't one of them.
