Recent rise in GPU prices? Care to elaborate? Last I heard, prices were tumbling in preparation for next-gen.

Sorry if I was wrong. From my perspective, AMD GPUs have increased since last month.

They have. Prices are dependent on supply and demand. and demand is also influenced by speculation. A lot of people on SD were saying things like "hold the line, I expect the 6600 to be $150 with no rebate after RDNA3 launches". My theory is that many people sobered up and realized that $200 Rx 6600 gpus is a steal and the increased interest caused a momentary spike.

30 series are more expensive than they were in the summer.

I hope NVIDIA eats their own GPUs with 3060 8Gb and 4080 debacles. Applause

With all the bad press and dead crypto mining... Scalpers getting destroyed and forced to sell below the purchase price. Not that $1300 for video card is just insane. Don't think I will be buying another NVIDIA.

The price for this 6600 is NOT bad but not what I would call a "slickdeal".

Kind of Stupid AMD promo of "two games" as dead Island 2 isn't out yet.. And requires linking STEAM to AMD rewards.

That and NVidia stated themselves that they were going to start restricting 30 series supply to prevent further price drops. No doubt AMD heard the news and followed suit for their 6 series to maintain high profits. Like OPEC for GPUs.

There were also a few of credit card offers like Amex 50% max $80 off on Amazon, that made buying a 6600 at $200+ more palatable.

Decent price, I got a amazon-used 6600 (non-X) for $160-ish. This one is probably worth the +$60 premium, especially if you want the games.

Is there an easy website I can use to see if this will work on my son's ibuypower I got him a few years back? He plays fortnite and has a RX570. I know this better but I don't know if it's plug and play. Thanks

Got it from Newegg and received it yesterday. Was cheaper by $5 around thanksgiving/CM, but close enough.
So far so good.
Need to upgrade the Ryzen 5 1600 next…

Ahh, good point. I thought it was the X. If anyone wants a non-X, I'll probably upgrade the non-X I just got last week and can sell mine for $200 shipped (just to break even, not looking to make money from it).

Try to input the computer's components into pcpartpicker (if not proprietary) then change the video card to this.

Since you seem to have the slot required and don't lose too much going from pcie 4.0 to pcie 3.0 with rx 6600, my main questions would be:
1) would video card fit physically in computer case?
Compare size of this and your cards in mm.
2) does the power supply have 8-pin connector?
3) does the power supply provide enough power?

Not familiar with Rx570 but Rx 6600 should draw less power according to internet (rx 6600 draws 132 watts while Rx 570 draws 150 watts). Main worry would be 1 and 2 imo.

Just a note:
Video card came with plastic on the fan shroud. Recommend removing before install. Size of card made it difficult to reach release latch of pcie slot.

5800X3D is down to $310. Probably overkill, but here's to hoping the 5600 gets back to below $120.
