FYI Target is once again offering a free $10 Target gift card when you spend at least $100 in Apple gift cards online or in stores. The deal is valid 12/11 thru 12/17 according to page 16 of the weekly ad preview: https://weeklyad.target.com/promo...11&page=19 Ad indicates limit of 1 per guest, but YMMV in stores.

RedCard holders can save an additional $4.50. The discount is not equal to 5% ($5) because Target assigns a $10 charge to the "free" gift card and $90 for the remaining balance owed. Therefore RedCard 5% is based on $90 so the discount equals $4.50.

https://www.target.com/s?searchTe...+gift+card

P.S. Apple has a limit of $2000 to be saved to your Apple Account Balance (*I believe*) + an additional 4 gift cards during online checkout when using the Apple Store app (previously limit was 8). An individual gift card can also not exceed $2000.

I have, but at the time that I used them, the Apple Store required that the gift cards could not be already added to your account balance.

That requirement might have changed by now with iOS 15.5 allowing you to add your Apple Account Balance as a card in the Wallet app. Call your local store to confirm what they can process for repair payments.

The $15 deal is only an annual week-of-Black-Friday deal. It used to be $20 as well.

That happens only during the holiday season between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and there's often a limit on how many you can buy per person or per transaction. I buy year round for 10% discount minimum, supplemented with the extra 15% deals as available during the holidays.

That said, the current Amazon 10% deal is better IMO IF you have a Prime card, because you can also get 6 months equal payments for it. Target RedCard would be so much better if they offered payment plans in addition to the instant 5% off, but hey.

FWIW I've never heard of an Apple Account balance limit but a quick Google search reveals it's an undocumented (by Apple) $2000 as OP said. TIL, thanks.

^exactly what i means, i need to stop accepting 10% deals....from anyone. but the best example is the amazon example where not only i can get an extra 5% but also i can actually use the $10 easily (unlike bby, target, etc). i knew about the $2k limit and like most people, i'm saving my apple gc balance for the new shiny 2024 m3 chip but i really didn't plan to fill up the entire $2k balance with a ton of 10%; was hoping for mostly 15% and 20% so i'm going to cut back and stop jumping on every apple offer. the amazon deal is good tho; glad i waited.

Pro tip.
If you buy in stores, before you buy, OPEN the package to make sure the codes inside and outside are matching.
If they don't match, some scammer did a switch-a-roo and when you put back the opened package on the shelf, it helps the next customers who won't buy this.
If they match, you have to check it out and pay. Make sure it is $100 per transaction.
When you get home, load the gift card to your Apple Account balance RIGHT away or spend it right away.

90% of the buyers can probably load the gc to their account using their iphone or ipad in the parking lot and don't have to wait to get home. but i agree you need to check it out first but personally, i believe it is risky...opening gcs in the store by yourself is tricky, just make sure you know how to defend yourself. I have a Prime card & didn't know about the finance options. Thanks for pointing that out. Repped.

I did notice though that the terms state, "Equal Pay promotions do not earn % back rewards. When you place your order, the total purchase amount (including any shipping and handling costs, plus applicable taxes) will be charged to your card and deducted from your available credit."

When you say Amazon is the better deal, do you not care about losing the extra 5%?

When given the option between cash back and 0% interest, I prefer 0% interest. That's just me, though.

Other than tech improving with time, what's the expectation/spec/feature-set for the 2024 M3 that you're willing to wait for? Genuinely curious as I hadn't heard/read anything about it.

Oh ok. I've read that 16" & 14" M2 MacBook Pro's are the next expected release (maybe March based on previous product releases/events).

This is a good tip to prevent being scammed as I had not noticed the matching "PBH…" number before, but why would you put the opened package back on the shelf? Someone else could buy it without realizing. The more helpful thing would be to show an employee so that they know scammers are showing up at their store, and perhaps it could be stopped.

In general, could you not just kindly explain to employees why you would like to open gift cards prior to making your purchase?

What do you have to "defend yourself" from? Do you mean to imply physical assault? I seriously doubt any employee is going to want to fight lol.
