Hopefully this thread will stick around a while, unlike the ill fated for some reason 65" thread.

So good deal and the code works for other sizes too.

You mean other than rtings compare? Both are pretty good. Do you like Android or Roku and do you trust TCL and like to tweak your TV for best PQ or just set up and enjoy good OOTB modes from Sony. The TCL performs better on paper but the Sony upscales better and is generally going to be the more polished product... although nothing is perfect in electronics, especially lately.

Given that 85 is huge and returns would be a challenge I'd probably get the x90ck from Costco with the 5 yr warranty and hope that set is a winner that never needs to be moved! Plus they will put it on your stand for $30 I think. Cant beat that.

I have seen commenters state the 655 has lots of glitches / issues, but have seen reviews say it looks good for it's price, I would worry somewhat about the longevity of the TCL.

Disclosure I ordered the X95J 75" for 1300 but won't get it till next week, so no hands on yet

Isn't the 75X95J a better deal at the same price from Walmart?

Agreed on all points. Just to reiterate on the size…I bought a 85" (qn90) and totally underestimated how big that is even when out the box. And being that it's a (new in box) Samsung flagship tv, I didn't think anything would go wrong. Ive never had a new monitor or tv go bad.

Well this tv was bad the first day. It was such a pain to repackage and return to BB. Learned my lesson and paid their total care membership so I get free install and they pick up returns.

I will never buy another huge tv without accounting for worst case scenario.

I have the 85 inch X90K, it's pretty solid. I think it looks a bit rough out the box but much better after calibrating. Rtings gave it a mediocre blooming score but honestly with local dimming on high I notice zero blooming with the current software updates.

Yes, here's the comparison between the two tvs. If you can, buy the Sony x95j instead. It's the better tv in almost every category besides contrast. I recently bought the x95j. It's on par with my LG A2 OLED tv for watching TV shows and sports. That's what I watch 90% of the time. The OLED is better for movies though. https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...shold=0.10

Are you saying the x95j is better for movies because rtings said so? Or because that's you opinion?

One difference is the x95j has the wide angle filter that may help with viewing angles and reflections, but it lowers contrast, and some find the rainbow effect with reflections annoying.

If you are sitting in front and have light control the x90k with the software update to reduce blooming is a really good picture, and better than what rtings observed when they reviewed it, so the gap may not be quite as large PQ wise as it first seems. Some have said it's essentially the same panel but without the filter.

Depends on what vendor you are comfortable with too as some have reported issues with WM shippers.

Not the same panel at all. The x95 has an additional white led each pixel to near-double the brightness, the big key difference. Better antireflective coating as well, the x95 has that shiny look that deflects glare with a special coating, x90 has default matte look.

Which x95 model are you referring to? The J?

Yes J (2021). This is a very good deal overall, especially going through Costco, which made this decision more difficult. However, The 95J is still a better TV and deal overall from Walmart and is the option I personally went with.
