Too many mice have too loose or stiff a scroll wheel for my taste. I really like the adjustable resistance for the scroll wheel on this one. I also appreciate the thumb trigger button
Functionally, this mouse just works well for me.
There are a number of cons though.
- Battery life is short. Its fine for me, but if you have long gaming sessions, you'll be plugging the wire in to it to continue.
- LED use kills the battery faster. Put it on breathe and/or <20% bright... or off. Steady LED at 50%+? Good luck getting 2 hours of use.
- Charging base kinda sucks. Sometimes the mouse sits easy on it on the first try. Other times, it takes multiple efforts to get it to rest right. Sometimes, it still won't charge the mouse...but that usually means dirty contacts. Its amazing how fast the contacts gets dirtied. Keep isopropyl and qtips handy. Clean the base AND the mouse contacts.
- Software loads SLOOOOOW. On boot up...even with fresh Windows...the Razer app takes up to a full minute to initialize. Its been more than a little annoying when I want to get to something like Device Manager after a reboot.
This mouse is overkill for me. I don't even change DPI. The fit and scroll wheel is enough though. I'm preety sure I payed closer to $100 for it. At $68, its a very nice deal. For whatever reason this is a big target for thefts in store. Thieves pop the box open and take the mouse, leaving the base. Check your BB pickup before you leave the store to ensure you actually get a mouse.
