Not many shoppers are aware of coupons or deals when they shop, unlike us, SDers. I don't call them dumb shoppers. It's just there are people who just want to go to the store and buy things they need.

I am always amazed when I see people just grab 1 gallon milk when 1/2 gallon milk is on sale and it's cheaper to buy two 1/2 gallon milk than 1 gallon milk even though there sale sign at the store.

Do all these constant "super-loss leaders" really work for Walgreens? I mean, are there so many people who come in there for the 75% off item and end up buying a dozen of Walgreens regular products that's all 250% of what it should cost?
(OK, I guess that's a stupid question, they keep doing it, so I guess it does work. There's a lot of dumb shoppers, after all. Should be happy I suppose, the dumb shoppers subsidize the slickdealers who just get the one discounted item.)

They get reimbursed by the manufacturer. We take all sorts of coupons at our c-store. Every coupon we get the face value plus 0.10 extra for the hassle of processing them. Sure it's a hassle to deal with but in the end brings business in the door so a win win for us. They aren't losing much if at all any money since they don't even have to mail these digital coupons to El Paso like the paper ones

Thanks, that does somewhat explain it, though it certainly seems like Walgreens does it a lot more than other chains, I suppose it may just be that Walgreens's get posted here more on SD so I'm used to seeing more of them.

So, if I ought not call them dumb shoppers, how about lazy-a$$ shoppers? Wink
They don't want to put in the effort, but they complain loader than anyone else about "why does everything cost so much these days? Sure, we complain about inflation too, but we put in our fair share of effort, we earned the right to whine a bit Big Grin
Thing is, their foolishness doesn't just affect them, SD'ers and other savvy shoppers exert price pressure on retailers that in the long run holds prices down, and by the same token the foolish shoppers who pay 125% bring prices up n the long run for everyone on average. So yeah, I do get a bit annoyed at that guy that buys the the gallon of milk for 2.5x the cost of the 1/2 gallon that's posted on sale. I'll get down off my soapbox now Wink

I don't call regular people who are not into bargain hunting "lazy ass shoppers". No need to be rude to others only because they value different things than you do. Some people see time as more valuable than saving money. "Time is money", you know. I don't have any issue with that. It's not my business what things people feel important.

When I was super into couponing and when the stores were having double/triple coupons, I spent so many hours searching/clipping/organizing/deal hunting/shopping. I spent so much time at stores, doing deals. I could have use the time for something else I valued more. Eventually, it became too much for me and I stopped. (Coupon system also changed around the same time.)

For the record, I did not say I get "annoyed" when I witness milk situation. I said "I get amazed" in a sense, I want to tell them about cheaper milk option, but they usually grab and leave so quickly.

Ordered something that's worth $7 or more and return it at the store itself.
