Definitely an upgrade from the 2nd gen.

In terms of fit, the 2nd gen are unmatched. They never fall out and I constantly forget I have them in. I joke with my friends that I have a twin who's ears they used for the design.

With that said, it doesn't make the 3rd generation bad by any means. You get improved sound quality, longer lasting battery, wireless charging case, and the fit is still "good". With these I know I have them on, but my ears have never gotten tired nor have they fallen out.

The 2nd gen will fit your mom's ears much better that's almost a given but the 3rd gen sound quality is light years ahead of the 2nd gen. It's not even comparable. I'm guessing your mom is probably not into spatial audio though and the 2nd gen will be more than fine and the comfort is unmatched.

They are my favorite. Wear them during my daily run. I love the shorter stem. But AirPods models are highly personal. The 3 has slightly larger ear bud that is uncomfortable for some. I have small ears and find them comfy and they never fall out. Others find the 2 uncomfortable, the Pros, etc. So fit is definitely subjective. But the Airpod 3s sound, reliability, design, is excellent.

These are not noise cancelling that will block outside noise if that is what you want. You want the Airpod Pro 2 for that feature.

They look like AirPods Pro, what is the difference between these and AirPods Pro is it just MagSafe charging? Do they come with silicon tips?

Does anyone know if the charging case can be used for first generation air pods pro? My case stopped working and apple wants to charge $110 for a replacement case. Figured this would be a better buy and I have a backup set.
