I swear, when they come out with a newer version of this, no one will be able to get one for years.

Easiest the best streaming player in existence - and I've tried them all. Reliable, stable, consistent and still gets updates years later.

Nothing like paying 180 bucks to deal with ads on the home screen and on your remote 😐
The downvotes on your comment are BS.
I got one before the update that introduced ads and it p#&&$& me off so much. I wish Nvidia would release their own launcher for it instead of using Google's garbage launcher.

Imagine, you pay $200 for a media center, it's ad free and you enjoy that it's ad free. Then you get a software update available (that's also required for some apps to stay working), then suddenly there's garbage ads on your TVs home screen that weren't there before. You don't have control over what ads display, doesn't matter if you've got a toddler at home, they're forced to see some dancer's @$$ hanging out of a thong because that's what Google decided to advertise that week (yes, this happened).

Out of curiosity, do you or anyone know if pihole would help block these ads? It blocks my roku's ads.

good addition for portable monitor for watching at the backyard or travelling with kids :-D, I add OTG cable with power cable for USB storage (fat32 or ntfs)
I got couple $14 onn. 4k Google TV, unbelievable value, can load browser and most Androided apps.. very smooth. It makes NVIDIA Shield like robbery

you say 2019 shield pro is cheap for $175 hahah, I bought ~3 years ago for $180.
the price should be $100? yes or no? :-P
I said I found a used one super cheap. I paid $80. I wouldn't mind paying full price, though, if it were my only streamer. I just couldn't justify full price on top of the Apple TV 4k.

Does this player run better than a TV with built in Google TV? I just bought a TCK 4k Google TV and the interface seems to run pretty smooth. Just wondering if getting this would really kick it up a notch. The TV does have Dolby Vision and Atmos too.
Yes, especially later on. Your TV's UI will start crawling and some apps won't be updated as regularly as they should. I have to Shields (one non 4k the other 4k). The original one I've had for 4 years and there's literally nothing wrong with it.

The reason it's $180 is because advertisers paid for the other $180 😂

I've had one of these since about 2017. It's had its ups and downs. Sometimes it works great. Other times it freezes and crashes a lot. I have to do factory reset and it doesn't fix it. Kind of in a little bit of an annoying streaming box. I've got both the 2017 and 2019 models

As time passes by, the realization is that all the time spent on ripping, loading, buying extra accessories & saving the content in the highest available QUALITY will look like waste of time, $ and efforts. Even your closest ones don't care about it. Smilie
Implying I rip anything lel. I am a software engineer by trade, building and maintaining enterprise servers and network appliances is a hobby of mine. I have a home theater in my basement, full 7.2.4 atmos setup and an 83'' Sony A90j and a 120'' drop down screen when we have numerous people over. Quality is paramount because you can actually see artifacts on 1080p streaming content at this level. My entire setup is automated at this point, I don't lose any time sitting down and scrolling through thousands of my own titles on demand through a 10gb fiber network. If a drive fails, I just pop a new one in and it repopulates automatically because I have a fully automated triple failover scheme. My family and their friends very much enjoy a full theater experience without leaving the house and my extended family enjoys having access to my server in the comforts of their homes as well. Paying for streaming services is death by 1000 cuts.

LOL, Onn. 4K Google TV does everything NVIDIA Shield pro can do, and it is much more flexible than NVIDIA Shield pro, can load Google TV android 13 and beyond
