All of my cards belong to me and opened by me. FYI, that is paltry compared to some people who REALLY make it a hobby... one guy in particular, Ron, had close to a million in available credit and had about triple the number of cards I have.
Not 100% sure, but someone posted on some site the following are good to go

2. It seems that you must deposit something (ANY amount) each month to avoid a $25 maintenance fee.
