For those interested, the 5g version is on sale for $199: https://www.motorola.com/us/smart...?skuId=619 This version has double the memory, 256gb instead of 128 and expandable to 1 tb instead of 512 gb (non 5g version). Also has a larger battery 5000 mah instead of the 4000 mah. 6 gb of RAM vs 4 gb with non 5g. If you have a trade, makes it $159 - well worth the extra $30 from the non 5g version. Also 5g version comes with Android 11, while the non 5g has Android 10. Hope this helps.

Google and Samsung killed external storage because there was a brief period where there was a security exploit.

They continued it because it's cheaper to leave out the slot, but more importantly, because people were throwing in cheap SD cards and then complaining about slow performance.

Android still supports external storage via USB-C, network mounted directories, and SD slots where available.

First post on here, going to bed now, hopefully I don't wake up to a ton of "you did it wrong" comments.
Seems to be a cheap price, especially compared to phones at the same price with 32GB. Tempted to get it as a gift.

Does the option Activate Now or Activate Later mean to buy the plan additionally; otherwise, the phone cannot be used by any SIM card?
Unless you want help from the store, just choose Activate Later.
Then you can use your current SIM or you can get a new SIM from whatever compatible service (which it's compatible with most and is unlocked).

Why get this when the 2022 version is free with only a $40 first month at Metro? Drawer it, and it will auto-unlock at 6 months of initial activation.
That sounds like a good deal for those willing to go through the hoops, are good at cancelling, and don't need the phone. Already a slickdeal post?

This deal is more no-strings-attached unlocked and usable on my preferred service on day 1 for a low price. Bought for my brother who has never had a smartphone and could use it now.

There's no need to "jump through hoops" to cancel. Don't do auto-billing, and the service just ends.

And compared to the much-improved 2022 model, the one in this thread is not even worth considering.

Best buy trade in deals have been so good you could have gotten pixel 7 for this price. Buy refurbished phone for $100 get $450 trade in value. Just wait for next best buy trade in deal. The days of using crap phones like this are over, at least for me.

Yes, it's an unlocked phone. So long as the phone supports the bands a carrier uses. Just insert the SIM from the local carrier and you're good to go.

I just received my first 5G phone.
I expected amazing speed. So disappointed in the availability.
Then I watched a video on how 5G is disappointing so far.
- Limited range
- Not available in rural areas

Next gen should have been beefing up the 4G LTE for more consistent service.
I don't think we need spotty 1gbps speeds when we barely get them.

I had a moto g stylus 2020 and it had a boot loop issue. If you restarted your phone it would get stuck for 15-30 minutes on the moto logo.

This issue caused me so much headache that I swore I would never buy a motorola phone again.

HSN has the Tracfone 5G version of this for $99.00. Comes with 1500 minutes, text, data. Good for one year (not monthly). Unlock after 60 days active.

My daughter has had this phone since BF 2021, Motorola has the best customer service. I've had it fixed twice for zero cost. I have been so happy with it I decided to buy this HSN version for my other younger daughter as well. I pulled the trigger a few weeks ago at 129.99, can't believe it's even less.

Only for the Pixels. Bestbuy isn't going to eat the cost to sell Pixel units. Google is likely underwriting that trade in cost. (which is a good thing for us because Google Store trade in experience could be terrifying) Google is heavily throwing money to sell their 6 & 7 series, the last time we saw that was for the 3 series. (But they went with a different strategy this time, pricing the phone competitively and going for trade ins) I don't think that is sustainable though, it definitely cost them more than $200 to manufacturer the phone let alone doing all the distribution work. We shall see how long they'll keep throwing money at it this time.

Do you have T-Mobile? T-Mobile has the largest 5G coverage so far, and they take advantage of the low bands in rural areas. The other 2 is very far behind, especially AT&T.

If people don't want to wait 6 months to get a $40 moto stylus 5G 2022 from metro, they can also pay $60 ($50 phone + $10 service) to get a refurbished moto g stylus 2021 (I think it's just returned phone, not really refurbished) one from tracfone, it will unlock after 60 days. Some people said it will unlock even you just pay 1 month service. But any way, you can always pay 2 months service to unlock it. So the total is $70.

Another thing is: tracfone has a reward system and you can earn points to redeem coupon for phone. You could get 5000-10000 points from the moto g stylus and its value is between $50-$100.

I was on Net10 (part of tracfone) and I never understood how the reward system worked. It was quite complicated.
