Both are good options!
Costco one has:
- need Costco membership
- $20 more
- 8c / 16t processor (more powerful and efficient)
- touchscreen (glossy)
- 250 nits screen

Amazon one has:
- 4c / 8t processor (still powerful, but hotter)
- brighter screen (300 nits)
- matte screen (less reflective)
- Climate Pledge Friendly - Made with recycled plastics and have super cool reversed E and R key caps with yellow letters…)

I can't find anything comparing graphics performance, but from experience, Ryzen Vega has better driver support. They probably perform around the same, with Vega looking better (judging off videos of their older cpu versions)

For me since the Costco one is HP, I would pass. I have had nothing but bad experiences with HP laptops.

I've always had problems with HP laptops and desktops, until I did a clean install of Windows. All the HP nonsense bloat is a drag.

Any experience with HP's hinges? Or any of the hardware?

I was ready to buy until I saw how ugly it is.

That rough, gray plastic looks terrible! And why use Janky looking key caps?

Specs look good, but take a closer look at the design before you buy. If you are radicalized about doing anything that Corpos claim will protect the environment, then you might appreciate it.

"We're saving the environment by not painting it, and leaving it with that rough primer look"

I think they just cheaped out, and used it as an excuse.

I did have hinges break and other things fall apart on my two hp laptops, they just don't seem to be built very well. This was 8 years ago tho, so take it with grain of salt.

That Costco HP is a Ryzen right? What is the Intel equivalent? Is the Ryzen considered to the "12th gen"?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I myself do not mind that my laptop is not silver as others. Also, I got the 12th gen i5 version of this, I just wish its touchscreen.

The climate change b.s. is just marketing fluff to try and appeal to a certain demo. The recycled plastics are an innovative way to cut down on e-waste, although if you look @ some reviews the screen frame tends to crack from normal use (recycled polymers tend to be more brittle....).

Would you expound, please, as to what to expect might be forthcoming as I am in the market for a 14" or even 13.3" perhaps? Repped, OP.

I bought the one with 1235u at $450 from Costco, and I returned it immediately. It feels really cheap and the fan is always on at 85 decibels. The vent faces upwards towards the screen. It's pretty terrible.
