Add a 2.5 SATA SSD if there's no additional nvme slots. Games are huge so more is better and most don't really benefit from nvme speed. Just make sure the OS is on the nvme and it doesn't get too filled

Something I didn't realize until recently, windows 10+ let's you change the default app install drive now as well:

Thank you, that link had a ton of information. I'm hoping this would be sufficient to upgrade my son's gaming laptop. His current Drive is only 256mb and out of space. I either replace his NVME drive altogether, or leave the smaller one as the boot drive and add a 2.5 in SATA drive. I can't decide.

Thanks for the link. In the comments at the end of the review some people are saying that they bought this drive and it has QLC. Kingston is one of the companies that is known to switch out drive components and not tell anyone.

Solidigm P41 Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive used to be 60. seems a little better than this one.

"Seems better" in which ways? $58 for a PCIe 4.0 1TB drive seems good.

The boot drive needs to be fast for good overall performance. Check if the stock 256 GB (sic) drive has DRAM. If so, stick with that and add a 2.5" drive to store games. The DRAM cache helps a lot for the OS drive (the Kingston 1TB doesn't have DRAM).

If the stock 256 GB doesn't have DRAM, then upgrading to this Kingston 1TB will give similar performance and be simpler to manage only one C: drive.

Not quite as good as the $28 deal a week or so ago, but still a solid price . Enjoy!

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Kingst...1199242785

Same price at amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-5...0BBWH1R8H/

Also, same price at Best Buy - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/king...Id=6525085
$28...wow must have missed that one.
