I was looking at a portal camera for a Christmas gift and narrowed it down to this camera and the Instax 11, 40, 70 or 90. The Instax 70 and 90 are pricier and produce decent quality pictures, but from what I've seen and also reviews, the Kodak seems to have better prints. and the cartridges are cheaper. Also you can use the Kodak to print existing pictures from your mobile phones. Right now Amazon has a couple of bundles deals on the printer in both white and yellow.

For the yellow one, if you get the camera + 60 extra print paper, it's $100 and the gift bundle it's $120

For the white one, if you get the camera + 60 extra print paper, it's $100 and the gift bundle is $120.

I ended up going with the white gift bundle. Rated as a top deal by Amazon right now and shippe and sold from Kodak's official Amazon strorefront.

the price on the kodak has dropped so considerably its a little weird. checking Kodak and Amazon sites, there is no film available for the 2 or 3 so that tells me they are either phasing these out or supply chain is that bad? I think it's being phased out so don't waste your money. Look at the Fuji Mini 40 which is pretty cool and the film is super affordable.

I went wtih the Kodak over the mini 40 as they were similarly priced as the Kodak makes better prints, acts as a stand alone photo printer that can connect to any bluetooth phone, and has a LCD viewfinder. Photos are also 3x3 vs 2x3. I hope the cartridges for the 3 become more available, but I doubt they are getting phased out. The KODAK Mini 3 Retro Portable Photo Printer is their current standalone printer and it uses the same film so I hope it sticks around.

Purchased this last year and passed it around at a retirement party. Lots of fun. Pretty impressive photos and easy to get new replacement pictures.

Passport photos are 2x2. It is possible that you can take a picture with the camera and cut it to your size. Or take a picture with you cell phone, print it on the printer and cut it to size.
